LCC K-9 Comfort Dogs Return to Santa Fe High School to be with Students, Faculty and Staff5/29/2018
Last week, sixteen LCC K-9 Comfort Dog teams from seven states came along side those who were grieving and in need, including:
The LCC K-9 Comfort Dogs and their handlers made a difference by offering prayers and comfort during a time of shock and tremendous sorrow for everyone in the Santa Fe community. Please continue to remember students and their families, staff, faculty, first responders and the Santa Fe community in your prayers. LCC never charges those we serve. Your gifts to the K-9 Travel Fund are greatly appreciated. LCC also hands out stuffed dogs to those most affected by the shooting. That is made possible by your generous gifts. Thank you for your prayers and all of your support!
Since Friday, the teams have been working with families and others affected by this tragedy at the Family Assistance Center set up by the Red Cross. They have also been working with first responders who bravely and without hesitation came to the aide of students, faculty, and staff.
Attending vigils and visiting other schools in the area, the comfort dogs have added much to comfort a devastated community. With prayer, the LCC K-9 Ministry handlers have consoled those grieving everywhere they go. After one encounter, a woman and her daughter remarked, “thank you so much; that was the best thing that happened to me today.” LCC K-9 Comfort Dogs in Santa Fe, Texas: Abner (Bethany Lutheran - Austin, Texas) Barnabas (Trinity – Hobart, Indiana) Bekah (Immanuel – Belvidere, Illinois) Cubby (Redeemer – Fort Collins, Colorado) Damaris (Memorial Lutheran - Katy, Texas) Eddie (Peace – Grand Island, Nebraska) Elijah (Our Redeemer - Wichita Falls, Texas) Gabriel (Messiah - Houston, Texas) Comfort Dog in Training Joy Lydia (Messiah – Lynnfield, Massachusetts) Mahlah (Our Savior – Milford, Illinois) Martha (Bethany Lutheran - Austin, Texas) Moses (Christ Lutheran – Cairo, Nebraska) Pax (St. Paul - Fort Worth, Texas) Rufus (St. Mark – Edmond, Oklahoma) Ruthie (LCC Staff) Please continue to remember students and their families, staff, faculty, first responders and the Santa Fe community in your prayers. Gloria Dei has students who attend Santa Fe High School and is in the process for an LCC K-9 Comfort Dog. They have already deployed staff to the hospital to be with impacted families and first responders. LCC never charges those we serve. It has allowed us, without hesitation, to go when and where we are invited. The nature of our deploying comes with a cost, as last minute travel is generally the most expensive. So we rely on your generosity to help us serve those who are suffering and in need. Please remember students and their families, staff, faculty, first responders and this community in your prayers. Your gifts to the K-9 Travel Fund are greatly appreciated. LCC also hands out stuffed dogs to those most affected by the shooting. That is made possible by your generous gifts. Thank you for your prayers and all of your support! Tim Hetzner
