Your Donations Make A Difference Throughout 2021 and Are a Shining Light During Darkness to Those in NeedAll year long, whatever need we put in front of you to help others, your donation went to those it was intended to help. It is truly pass-through, dollar-per-dollar, for what you, the donor, intended. NOTHING is taken out for our administrative costs. You are on the front lines with us making a difference in the lives of those suffering and in need! Thank you for your continued generous support of all of the LCC Ministries in 2021! FAMILIES IN NEED
BECAUSE OF YOUR DONATIONS LCC WAS ABLE TO HELP THESE FAMILIES IN NEED:
Your Donations Help Illinois National Guardsman Provide for His Family Who Escaped from Afghanistan
LCC was able to send your donations to Illinois National Guardsman Lt. Fahim Masoud to help him as he provides for his family who escaped from Afghanistan. Your support has been a tremendous blessing to Fahim and his family as they adjust to their new life in the United States. |
Your Donations Help Holy Cross Lutheran Church in North Miami, Florida, Assist Two Families in Need
One gift went to help a mother and her two children who were living in a shelter for the abused, and have now been relocated to a safer place where she and her children will experience a new beginning.
We also helped a second family whose firstborn daughter is 6 months old, has a very rare and incurable disease in which tumors grow rapidly, and she is experiencing seizures. The insurance company refuses to pay for the medication needed. We were able to pay for her medication which is costing more than $800 a month. Her parents work for the Humane Society and love the comfort dogs.
Thank you again for being the hands, eyes and feet of Jesus touching so many lives.

The families are incredibly grateful for the support that they have received. |
Your Donations Help Salam Christian Fellowship, Lombard, Illinois, Minister to Refugees in Need
Pastor Hesham Shehab of Salam Christian Fellowship in Lombard, Illinois, is grateful for your generous support of his ministry to the refugees. Your donations provided the financial support needed to help a disabled woman with rent and car repairs for an Afghan refugee. Both needs have been met! Your generous donations also help Salam assist the refugees in providing the medications they need and purchasing bilingual Bibles for the ministry to use as they share Jesus with new refugees. |
INTERNATIONAL MISSIONS
BECAUSE OF YOUR DONATIONS LCC WAS ABLE TO PROVIDE FOOD FOR SCHOOL CHILDREN AND THE MOST VULNERABLE IN HAITI
Your Donations Help Provide Food for Students During Christmas Break
I want you to know how happy the kids and parents were on receiving the food kits. It was a special Christmas gift for them. They told me this year they didn’t expect anything because there is trouble not only in Haiti but it’s everywhere in the world. But when I told them I could feed the kids and they said "yes," God hears our prayers. You can imagine what impact each kit makes in each family who receives it.
Please never stop thanking our sponsors and donors for us. And thanks to all of the members of LCC. In the name of the students, their parents and especially in my family name, I wish you a Merry Christmas with Jesus Christ.
Thanks again for continuing to make a difference for my people with your love, generosity, compassion.
We love you so much guys and wish you a Happy New Year 2022 with God.
Blessings,
Lophane

IN-KIND DONATIONS: FURNITURE & QUILTS
Your Generous Donations of Furniture Will Help Those in Need
LCC Thanks Zion Lutheran Church, Hinsdale, Illinois, for a Donation of Seventy-Four Quilts
The quilters are: Lois Flood, Pat Naas, Jean Albert, Jan McMahon, Laura Shrader, and Jo Murphy.
Three quilters have passed since they completed the quilts: Eileen Madden, Carmella Miller, and Jackie Losenza. We are thankful for each of their lives and know that through the donations of their quilts, their lives will continue to make a difference.
The damage is devastating with many of the homes completely leveled or severely damaged. There are many uprooted trees everywhere, landing on property, homes, and cars. The tornado was so fierce that some trees literally pierced through homes.
The first LCC L.E.R.T. team completed chainsaw work at eight homes on the same street. All of these homeowners had accepted help from someone who offered to clear trees for a fee, but this person cut and took only the sections of trees he could sell to make money and left a huge mess for those homeowners to deal with on top of the tornado damage. Several of these property sites were large two-day projects.
LCC Disaster Response teams were able to show the mercy and presence of Jesus Christ and that we could be trusted to do what we said we would at no cost to the homeowner.
Mr. and Mrs. Harold are an elderly couple that had many downed and damaged trees on their large property. As the tornado came through their neighborhood, they took shelter in their bathroom and held each other. They could hear trees falling on the ground, hitting their roof, and feel the house shake. When it was all over, they went outside to see all of the damage. Their long driveway was totally impassable and the destruction was overwhelming. We spent two days clearing their property, but more importantly listening to their stories and sharing the love of Christ with them. |

God Leads Us To Those In Need
As Kathy and Jamie were driving through neighborhoods to do assessments, Mr. M’s eyes connected with Jamie’s as they began to pass by his home. Mr. M started waving his arms and asked if they could help him, and of course, they immediately stopped to meet with him. Jamie and Kathy felt God led them to his home. Mr. M was in tears as soon as he heard they were willing to help him this week.
Mr. M and his wife told their story of how they waited out the devastating storm huddled in their bathroom with their two dogs, praying that God would take them quickly without pain. Their ears were popping, the house was shaking as they heard trees snapping and the roof being lifted off the house. They feared they would not survive. They described it as “20 seconds of hell!” Then there was dead silence. When they walked out of their home, they couldn’t believe the damage surrounding them and all of their neighbors’ homes that were gone. Mr. M and his wife praised God that they survived. Their faith sustained them and is now stronger than ever. Mr. M. said 'they are true believers that God listens to their prayers!”

LCC DR L.E.R.T. Teams Will Be Returning to Kentucky after Christmas to Continue to Serve Those in Need
LCC Disaster Response received an invite from Rev. Ross Johnson, Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod (LCMS) Disaster Response Director, and Mid-South District President Rev. Dr. Roger Paavola to go to Kentucky and are now serving out of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Paducah, Kentucky, with Pastor David Appold.
The LCC L.E.R.T. team has already completed chainsaw work at five homes on the same street. Each of the homeowners are so thankful that LCC Disaster Response teams have come from so far to help them in their time of need. LCC Disaster Response will continue working in this area all week.
LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Esther (Holy Cross – Collinsville, Illinois) and her handlers were invited to be present with those impacted by the tornado that hit the Amazon warehouse in Edwardsville, Illinois.
On Wednesday, December 15, they visited the fire station of the first responders who were on-site that night. They also attended a memorial service on Friday, December 17, to share love and compassion to the victims and first responders who are grieving the lives lost.

The LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Ministry felt God’s direction as He led us to His people in Waukesha, Wisconsin, after the horrific tragedy during their Christmas parade on November 21. Then a couple of weeks later, God opened the way to share His love in Oxford, Michigan, after the tragic shooting at the Oxford High School on November 30.
It seems that everywhere we turn, people need hope. It is hard to see the light when we are surrounded by darkness at times. God is there, no matter where we find ourselves. God follows us into the darkness, and in His presence, we see compassion, faithfulness, and hope.
If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me, and the light become night around me,” even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you. Psalm 139:11-12
There are so many encounters that the Comfort Dogs and their handlers had, where you could see God’s hand in the moment.
The mother the LCC K-9 Ministry team met in the Meijer’s parking lot in Oxford, Michigan, is just one of those moments. One of the handlers saw a woman heading toward her car wearing an Oxford sweatshirt and stopped to ask if she had children who attended the high school. The woman shared that she has two children who attend Oxford High School and that one of her children had been sitting next to the shooter in class just before they had changed classes. The handler prayed with this mother, who is grateful to have her children alive and well and yet is grieving for the families who lost their son or daughter. This mother shared what a comfort it has been to the kids to have the Comfort Dogs in their community.
The principals from the schools in the surrounding Oxford communities were so grateful to see the students smiling and talking while spending time with the Comfort Dogs at their schools. The Comfort Dog Ministry is about sharing the hope and light that God provides during our darkest times.
When she found out the Comfort Dogs were coming to "her town," it brought the tragedy home to her. She was very grateful that the Comfort Dogs and their handlers were there for her community of Oxford, Michigan.
I just wanted to thank you again for taking the time to talk with me yesterday at Meijer. I am amazed by your teams' compassion and dedication to helping the communities affected by such horrific events. Being in a position like you are, constantly surrounded by tragedy and heartbreak, is an extremely heavy job.
I just want you to know that the impact our visit had on me and the kids cannot be described. So thank you again for everything you do! My kids loved the stuffies, and both fell asleep holding them last night. They are both quiet when we are out and about, but that night and on the way home, all they could talk about was the dogs!
Kristin
During their many visits, the LCC K-9 ministry teams handed out Mini Stuffed LCC K-9 Comfort Dogs to children and adults to take home and hold onto whenever they feel scared or need comfort. Every time you purchase a stuffie, we give one to someone who is suffering and in need. |
Please join LCC as we pray for the Oxford High School community during this incredibly difficult time.
The LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Ministry and Hearts of Mercy & Compassion Ministry NEVER charge those we serve as we bring the Mercy, Compassion, Presence and Proclamation of Jesus Christ to those suffering and in need. We know that comfort is needed to help this shocked and devastated community and the first responders who serve them.
The LCC K-9 Comfort Dogs and their ministry teams continued to serve throughout the Waukesha community, and first responders as invited to help them continue to process their grief following the Christmas parade tragedy. The LCC K-9 Ministry teams will return for more visits as invited.
The team presented them with an LCC Hearts of Mercy & Compassion filled with signatures and words of encouragement from congregation members of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church and Brookfield Lutheran Church. When they see this heart in their station they will know how loved and appreciated they are. "We are so blessed by these guys and can’t wait to go back for more visits to continue to support our awesome first responders!"
We sincerely appreciate your participation in Waukesha's Friends and Family Resource Center that was established to provide support to Waukesha Community after the Christmas Parade tragedy. Please pass along our thanks to all of the handlers that responded.
Thank you!

After a visit at Clarendon Elementary School, Mukwonago, Wisconsin, last week, the LCC K-9 Comfort Dogs and their teams received thoughtfully and beautifully written cards filled with appreciation from the students. The students thanked the LCC K-9 Comfort Dogs and their teams for visiting them after the Christmas parade tragedy. |
"It is Christmas every time you let God love others through you ... yes, it is Christmas every time you smile at your brother and offer him your hand." Mother Teresa
On Monday, December 20, LCC Kare 9 Military Ministry Dogs Brutus (LCC Squad) and Nigel (LCC Staff) visited the Lockport Public Library in Lockport, Illinois. The visit offered library patrons the chance to meet and love the Comfort Dogs. The library has become a destination for students to study for final exams. The compassion and peace of Christ was shared with many students and staff.
On Monday, December 20, LCC Kare 9 Military Ministry Dogs Brutus (LCC Squad) and Nigel (LCC Staff) visited Fischer Middle School in Aurora, Illinois, to offer relief from the stress of exams. The students and staff loved meeting the Kare 9s and shared the peace and compassion of Christ with all.
On Friday, December 17, LCC Kare 9 Military Ministry Dogs Brutus (LCC Squad) and Nigel (LCC Staff), with their veteran handlers, visited the students and staff of Reavis High School in Burbank, Illinois. The visit took place in a section of the school library called the “Calm Room.” The library at Reavis is the only High School library in Illinois with a fireplace. Pretty neat! After many hugs and pets, the students and staff had one question,” When can you come back?” We assured them we would return whenever invited.
On Thursday, December 16, LCC K-9 Comfort Dogs Jeremiah (LCC Staff) and Myra (St. Andrews - Park Ridge, Illinois), and LCC Kare 9 Military Ministry Dogs Brutus (LCC Squad) and Nigel (LCC Staff) visited students and staff at Lisle High School in Lisle, Illinois to offer love and comfort as the school prepares for final exams. Many were happy to get some love from the comfort dogs. Both students and staff said their visit was just what they needed during these challenging times.
