wells for ghana
Imagine having to walk 3 miles to the nearest clean water source. You have your 4 month old daughter slung across your back and your empty 5 gallon jerry can in your hand. As you trudge up the hill on the uneven ground you are silently praying; for your safety, for strength, that you won’t twist an ankle… She knows she has to do this for her family, even though the round trip will take at least 4, maybe 6 hours of her day. What if she gets sick, or hurt or simply can’t manage the 4 hours? There is the local stream, the place where everyone washes their clothes; the place where the cattle walk in to get a drink…
Many people in rural Ghana don’t have to imagine the story above. They are living it. When the ELCG goes into a village and drills a well, the impact on lives is immediate and life changing. More than punching holes in the ground the ELCG establishes a relationship with the village, and with the help of the village elders introduces the village to the Living Water. Maybe in the future there may be a school built, but for now there is the well. It gives health, community and time.
When you join us by giving to the Ghana Water Fund you do more than give water. You give health, safety, time and community. You give the ELCG the chance to make an eternal impact in people’s lives.
Please give today.
