Would You Be My Trainer?
Volunteer Apprentice Trainers Needed | Time, Love and Energy Required
Explore becoming a volunteer Apprentice Trainer with Lutheran Church Charities K-9 Comfort Dog Ministry.
As an Apprentice Trainer, you will be a foster parent for 18-24 months at a time. There are physical demands and it is a full-time commitment, but you will learn by attending weekly training classes (up to 2.5 hours for each class). We teach you how to train the newest golden retriever puppies through socialization, daily exercise, and daily training.
For more info, please read our FAQ document here, or view the video below.
Lutheran Church Charities pays all food, supplies, and veterinary care expenses. To help offset the cost of gasoline and travel expenses, Lutheran Church Charities will offer $100.00 gift cards each month.

Being an Apprentice Trainer is an unforgettable and rewarding experience. Many of our Apprentice Trainers choose to participate in the training program for many years because of the community of volunteers, their own spiritual growth, staff they work with, and because they know that the dogs have a greater purpose.
When you volunteer as an Apprentice Trainer, you will be shaping the puppies you train and care for into an LCC K-9 Comfort Dog. That Comfort Dog will always carry with it the training and early formation you provided, and serve as part of the K-9 Ministry of bringing comfort and compassion to those who are suffering and in need.
