Your Help Is Needed to Continue Serving Inner City Students at Christ the King Lutheran Church and School in Chicago

On Tuesday, August 17, LCC staff member Nikki Deacon delivered a check for $12,000 of your donations to Pastor John Brazeal and Principal Geri of Christ the King Lutheran Church and School in Chicago, Illinois. They were overwhelmed by your generosity! “Thank you, thank you, thank you,” was all they could say.

Pastor John and Principal Geri continue their 47-year ministry in a part of the city where many people are afraid to go. They reach out with the light and love of Jesus, connecting the children of their community with a strong educational and Christian foundation, which allows the children to know that they have much more worth than what the streets of Chicago tell them.

Christ the King provides small classes, violin lessons, dance classes, and services that help serve the well-being of the students. Pastor John and Principal Geri also put a strong emphasis on serving others which, in a community where people struggle to meet basic necessities, they give out of the love of their hearts sharing in response to what is given to them.

As the finances of the church changed, Pastor John and Geri, out of their love of the students and commitment to their community, do not take a salary.

Supporting Christ the King Lutheran School is an investment in an incredible ministry where life-changing relationships are established, and an incredible education is earned.

“Mirahri is one of five children and is very excited to go back to Christ the King this year, seeing his teachers and reconnecting with friends.

He is ready to learn! Any assistance is greatly appreciated!”

Donte wrote to LCC himself, an eloquent student; he shares that his grandparents have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic in such a way that leaves them unable to pay his school tuition.

“That is why I am asking for any help that Christ the King Lutheran School can assist my family and me; it would be very helpful and greatly appreciated.”
