Your Donations Provide a Motorcycle to Pastor LaVenture in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, to Reach Poor Haitian Congregation in Mountains

Pictured from the left are Lophane Laurent, Field Director with Mission Haiti, and Pastor LaVenture. Pastor LaVenture lives in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, but serves an impoverished congregation high in the mountains. He travels there a couple of times a week up terrible rocky roads that could be considered wide goat paths on the back of a motorcycle taxi that may or may not be well maintained.
 
Having his own transportation will save him a great deal of money and give him more independence and flexibility to serve his congregation. He is immensely grateful and praises God for those who have shared their resources so generously.

Your Donations Help a Family Who Lost Their Home In a Fire

Last week, Pastor Brad Maxon from Messiah Lutheran Church in Elmhurst, Illinois, contacted Lutheran Church Charities to help provide assistance to a congregation family of four who had just lost their home and belongings in a fire. This family with two boys, ages 5 and 8, was in the house when the fire broke out and praise God for having escaped safely. Pastor Maxon was very appreciative to receive $1,000 from Lutheran Church Charities within 24 hours of the fire to give to the family to help with immediate needs.
 
According to Pastor Maxon, they are the co-trustees of Messiah and very active in serving their church and community. This family is now being blessed by their family, friends, church, and community with prayers and support.
