The LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Journey Begins with Volunteer Apprentice Trainers!

Volunteer Apprentice Trainers Needed for Future LCC K-9 Comfort Dogs

Every LCC K-9 Comfort Dog begins their journey with volunteer apprentice trainers that pour love, time, patience, and hope into nurturing and training these beautiful creatures given to us by God. Beginning as an 8 week old Golden Retriever puppy, Comfort Dogs in Training learn all about love, calmness, and consistency from the loving hearts and hands of their trainers. When the training is complete, LCC K-9 Comfort Dogs take with them the love and care they received from these incredible volunteers.   

Once placed, the handlers and ministry partners at LCMS churches can begin their outreach ministry with these beautiful LCC K-9 Comfort Dogs as a bridge to connect with people and show them the love, compassion, and presence of Jesus Christ. So many moments, so many stories, of what these dogs have meant to so many people and it started with the love, time, patience, and hope poured into them by the volunteer apprentice trainers.

They poured time, energy, patience, and love into me. They encouraged me. They are my heroes, and I’m grateful for them every day. The need for trainers is real and immediate!
