Stars and Stripes Honor Flight, Mission 74

It was an honor for the LCC K-9 Comfort Dog teams for Amos (Our Savior's Way - Ashburn, Virginia), Charity (Brookfield Lutheran - Brookfield, Wisconsin), Kezia (Emmanuel - Baltimore, Maryland), Mary,  (St. Paul's - Janesville, Wisconsin), Sage (Concordia University Wisconsin - Mequon, Wisconsin), Samson (Zion - Marengo, Illinois), and LCC K-9 Comfort Dog in Training Rejoice to spend Armed Forces Day with the men and women who have served our country and flew on the 74th mission of Stars and Stripes Honor Flight on Saturday, May 18.

Over 115 veterans and their guardians flew on a life-changing trip to Washington, D.C., to visit the memorials and experience a day of honor and thanks.

Charity and Sage Comfort Dogs were up early Saturday morning to send off the veterans for the Stars and Stripes Honor Flight from Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport, Wisconsin, with big smiles and well wishes from their handlers.

When the veterans arrived in Washington D.C., they were greeted by LCC K-9 Comfort Dog teams for Amos and Kezia. Their teams congratulated the 10,000th veteran who has flown into D.C. to see the war memorials from this hub in Milwaukee -- an amazing accomplishment!

Later that night, LCC K-9 Comfort Dogs Charity, Mary, Sage, in training Rejoice, and LCC Kare 9 Military Ministry Dog Samson and team were at Mitchell Airport when the veterans returned home from their trip. The Comfort Dogs lined up and greeted each veteran as their handlers welcomed them home, thanking them for their service.

Charity Comfort Dog’s team had a very personal connection to this flight. Their dear friend and fellow church member, Miss Leah, flew as a guardian for Dennis, an amazing Marine.

The Comfort Dogs teams presented Dennis with a purple Heart of Mercy & Compassion with the Marine emblem and Dennis’ name printed on the heart to honor him on this special day. 

The motto of the Stars and Stripes Honor Flight is “Every day is a Bonus”. The LCC K9 Comfort Dog Ministry is so incredibly blessed to help make the day full of extra bonuses of appreciation, love, and comfort for these heroes that we owe much honor and gratitude.
