On Sunday, August 5, several LCC K-9 Police Ministry teams visited the Skokie (Illinois) Police Department to offer comfort, following the loss of Officer Jose Leos.
Officer Leos, who was also a veteran of the U.S. Navy, was recognized on numerous occasions for outstanding police work during his 13 years at Skokie Police Department. He was diagnosed with lung cancer just two months ago, so his loss came as a shock. He was only 46 years old, and is survived by his wife and two teenage children.
In the words of Chief Anthony Scarpelli, the department is "beyond heartbroken." Please remember Officer Leos' family and friends in your prayers.
The following LCC K-9 Police Ministry Dogs were blessed to offer comfort: Eve (St. John's - Lombard, Illinois) Nigel (LCC Staff) Shiloh (Christ Our Savior - Dixon, Illinois) Susie (St. Peter - Arlington Heights, Illinois)
