Lutheran Church Charities’ Hearts of Mercy and Compassion, Crosses for Losses (HMC) Ministry provides hearts and crosses to families, friends, first responders and essential workers. We rely solely on donations to cover the cost of materials to make them and shipment to get them where they are needed.

Remembering Leroy Weisbecker, Army Veteran

Hearts of Mercy & Compassion Director Rich Martin, LCC Kare 9 Military Ministry Coordinator Jim Morrison, and veteran handler Brad Schroeder for Kare 9 Susie (St. Peter – Arlington Heights, Illinois) presented a purple veteran Mercy Heart to Kare 9 Brutus’ (LCC Squad) handler Gene Weisbecker after the loss of his brother Leroy who served in the United States Army. Gene will be presenting the heart to Carol, Leroy’s wife. Jim led the group in prayer with the presentation of the heart to Gene.

Mercy Heart In Memory of Pastor Warren Schilf’s Mother

Pastor Warren Schilf of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Palatine, Illinois appreciated the Heart of Mercy & Compassion in memory of his mother Blanche who went to be with Jesus in May. Immanuel Lutheran’s Saturday morning Men's Bible Study signed the Mercy Heart along with LCC staff. LCC staff member Tim Laabs presented it to Pastor Warren and led prayer. Immanuel’s Elder Chair, John Klein, was also present.

Mercy Heart Presented to Pastor Steve & Linda Hayden

A Mercy Heart was presented by LCC staff member Deb Baran to her brother and sister-in-law, Pastor Steve & Linda Hayden, after the sudden passing of Linda’s mother, Marjory Holmes. While quarantined in a memory care facility, Marjory tested positive for COVID-19. Shortly thereafter, and a few days after her parents 66th wedding anniversary, Marjory went to live eternally with her Heavenly Father. We praise God for Marjory’s many years of faithful service in His name and continue to pray for her family and friends during this time of unexpected loss and grief. Marjory’s home church is Redeemer Lutheran Church in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Pastor Steve Hayden serves at Lake Oconee Lutheran Church in Eatonton, Georgia.
