Two days each spring the reading teachers at George Fischer Middle School (Carmel, New York) gather their students in one classroom so they can take turns reading to the LCC K-9 Comfort Dogs. It’s a special time for the students to relax, pet the dogs, and practice their reading totally judgement-free.
LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Leah (Immanuel - Danbury, Connecticut) and her fellow Comfort Dogs are perfectly content to listen to their story over and over again while their friends perfect their skills.
Leah has been visiting the reading classes for three years now. Last year LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Lily (Lutheran Church of the Good Shepard - Old Bridge, New Jersey) joined her for remote reading days. This year they were back in person and LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Abraham (Trinity - Hicksville, New York) joined Leah and Lily for the day.
A resounding “best day ever” would sum up our visit!
