Passing of the Vest for LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Sage at Concordia University Wisconsin

Concordia University Wisconsin (CUW) and the School of Health Professions, held a special chapel service on Thursday, September 6 where we they celebrated the arrival of their second LCC K-9 Comfort Dog on campus, Sage. Like LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Zoey, Sage Comfort Dog serves as a resource on campus and in the community, and he is helping CUW launch its new animal assisted therapy certificate program. The chapel service included a message from Rev. Dr. Paavola, followed by the passing of the vest from LCC K-9 Ministries to Concordia. Richard Martin, Director of K-9 Ministries, with Ruthie Comfort (LCC Staff) was joined by LCC K-9 Comfort Dogs Lila (Beautiful Savior – Mequon, Wisconsin), Dora (LHSA of Greater Milwaukee), Charity (Brookfield Lutheran – Brookfield, Wisconsin), Zoey (CUW – Mequon, Wisconsin), Rhoda (Prince of Peace – Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin), and Comfort Dog-in-training Zillah.

Rev. Dr. Paavola gave a heartfelt message about conversations with dogs. It revolved around Matthew 11  “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light,” and how our conversations with God provides us with the ultimate comfort we receive from Him.

The LCC K-9 Ministry looks forward to the many doors God will be opening for Sage Comfort and his new team at CUW.
