Miles Hiked: 1,722.6 of 2,650 Matthew Warrick's journey on the Pacific Crest Trail approaches 1,730 miles after 75 days of hiking form the borders of Southern California/Mexico to Canada. Most recently, he was taking in the beauty of Mount Jefferson at Willamette National Forest and spent a day hiking through a dead forest.
Matthew shared on his blog that his grandfather and uncle have invited the LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Ministry to respond to the recent mass shooting in El Paso, Texas. SUPPORT NEEDED: LCC K-9 Comfort Dogs Deployed for 2 Shootings in 24 Hours For the past couple of months, I’ve been hiking the PCT to raise money for K-9 Comfort Dog Ministries. An immediate need for comfort has arisen in Dayton, Ohio and El Paso, Texas after the recent shootings. My grandfather, Rev. Dr. Karl Heimer, and my uncle, Rev. Stephen Heimer, are collaborating with LCC K-9 Comfort Dogs to respond to the tragedy in El Paso. From my home church in Austin, TX, Rev. Martin Danner with Bethany Lutheran Church is assisting the deploying arrangements for this area. I ask you to support the K-9 Comfort Dog Ministries Travel Expense Fund. During his hike, Matthew is raising awareness and funds for the LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Ministry. Matthew is a member of Bethany – Austin, Texas, home of LCC K-9 Comfort Dogs, Abner and Martha. Matthew hopes to raise $10,000 for the LCC K-9 Comfort Dogs but needs your help! Please prayerfully consider donating to help Matthew reach his fundraising goal. Please join the entire LCC staff and LCC K-9 Ministry affiliate teams as we support Matthew in this effort and pray for his safety this summer. We thank Matthew for his generosity in support of LCC mission to share the mercy, compassion, presence, and proclamation of Jesus Christ to those who are suffering and in need.
