LCC’s mission is to share the mercy, compassion, presence and proclamation of Jesus Christ to those suffering and in need. Many times LCC K-9 Comfort Dogs respond to disasters, crises and emergency site visits. One such visit happened on September 3, 2019. LCC K-9 Comfort Dogs Bethany (Trinity – Danville, Illinois), Dinah (Trinity Lutheran – Auburn, Illinois), Esther (Holy Cross – Collinsville, Illinois), and Rachel (Immanuel – Charleston, Illinois) were on-site at Lutheran High School in Springfield, Illinois to offer compassion and presence to students and staff grieving a sudden death of a student. They were heartbroken and at loss for how to cope with his passing. The K-9s and their handlers helped them process the grief they were experiencing.
According to a post on the Lutheran High School Facebook page, “The ministry of the comfort dogs led by Dinah Comfort Dog was so uplifting; she was joined by her friends Esther Comfort Dog, Rachel Comfort Dog and Bethany Comfort Dog throughout the first week of September.”
The LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Ministry is blessed to be able to bring the presence of Jesus Christ to individuals and communities who are suffering and in need.
