Voice of Care has offered a new type of service to communities who are dealing with a disaster by training LERT team members to be respite companions. On Saturday, April 13, Deaconess Kris Blackwell led this training at the Northern Illinois District office. Six LERT team members joined this group that can offer these services at a disaster site if needed.
Participants were from the following LERT teams:
Family in Faith – Glendale Heights
Immanuel – Belvidere
St. John – Wheaton
St. Peter – Gilberts
St. Peter – Schaumburg
Trinity – Lisle
Lutheran Church Charities thanks Voice of Care for equipping LERT volunteers to serve a vulnerable population in times of disaster by showing the mercy, compassion, presence and proclamation of Jesus Christ to those suffering and in need.
