Lutheran Early Response Team (L.E.R.T.) Chainsaw Volunteers Help an Elderly Woman with Clean-Up after Woodridge, Illinois, June Tornado
This past week, Kathy O’Day, LCC Director of Disaster Response, was asked by Chris Bethel, Director of Public Works, Woodridge, Illinois, to send chainsaw help for an elderly woman with extensive tree damage from the June 21st EF-3 tornado.
This woman’s daughter worked with the team during the day and was grateful for all of the assistance. She couldn’t believe all that was done. She kept saying, “I keep crying tears of joy. All of you are such a blessing!”
LCC extends thanks to the following L.E.R.T. chainsaw volunteers for their willing service:
Immanuel, East Dundee – Matt Flynn
Prince of Peace, Palatine – Dan and Bobbie Swyndroski
St. Peter, Schaumburg – Bob and Barb Royce
Trinity, Lisle – Ed Boerman, Mike Kostecki
Chris Bethel also sent a note of thanks for the continued willingness to serve in their community. “Thanks, Kathy! I can tell you that they were genuinely appreciative when I spoke with them. Thanks again for what you all are continuing to do.”
The LCC Disaster Response Ministry never charges those we serve. Please donate to the LCC Disaster Response General Fund or Equipment Maintenance & Fuel Expense Fund so that we may continue to show the Mercy, Compassion, Presence and Proclamation of Jesus Christ to those suffering and in need.
