L.E.R.T. Chainsaw Volunteers Led Cleanup Day at Frankfort Township’s Rosehill Cemetery
On Saturday, the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church L.E.R.T. (Lutheran Early Response Team) volunteers from Frankfort, Illinois, led a cleanup day at Frankfort Township’s Rosehill Cemetery. It is Will County’s oldest recorded cemetery with some of the original graves predating the Civil War. It is a small community cemetery still providing burials today.
Doug Mark, the Cemetery Administrator, stated that this cemetery has not had trees, limbs, and overgrown brush removed in some time. He is very grateful for the hard work and leadership provided by L.E.R.T. volunteers, Joel and Lori Powless, Curt Murff, Mike Kostecki, and Ron Jones as well as for 14 different family members of loved ones buried at the cemetery who also assisted. All of the work completed, along with the care and respect shown was and will be greatly appreciated by families.
