LCC Welcomes Zion Lutheran Church, Marengo, Illinois to the LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Ministry

LCC has exciting news to share! 
 
In March, before the shelter-in-place order in Illinois, Zion Lutheran Church in Marengo, Illinois joined LCC staff for handler training and met their new LCC K-9 Comfort Dog, Samson, and became part of the LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Ministry. Since that time, the team has actively trained and built a relationship with Samson Comfort Dog. LCC is pleased to announce that the Zion Marengo K-9 Ministry team of handlers, caregivers and ministry partners were commissioned by Pastor Ripke on June 7.
 
LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Samson will serve as Zion Lutheran Church’s bridge to showing the mercy, compassion, presence, and proclamaiton of Jesus Christ to those who are suffering and in need. Samson Comfort Dog’s Bible verse is 2 John 1:6, "And this is love: that we walk in obedience to his commands. As you have heard from the beginning, his command is that you walk in love."

The LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Ministry is one of presence. When the Lord calls, we must go and serve Him. Isaiah 6:8 tells us, “Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, ‘Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?’ And I said, ‘Here am I. Send me.’”

Top Dog Christine Schulman, Becky Miller, James Miller, Denise Anderson, Tawney Denn, Barb Warmbold,Sandee Dunker, Marisa Dunker, and Pastor Jonathan Ripke.
 
LCC is honored to include the following individuals to the LCC Kare 9 Military Ministry:
 
Sally Nagel - Air Force (1976-2006)
Jeff Schulman - Marine Corps (1965-2013)

In addition to Tim Hetzner, LCC President/CEO, we were blessed to have Rev. Dr. Allan R. Buss, Northern Illinois District President in attendance.
