LCC Mobile Food Kitchen Viewing, Dinner and Discussion Event

Last week, Lutheran Church Charities (LCC) hosted a Mobile Food Kitchen viewing, dinner and discussion event with all those who had expressed an interest in LCC’s Mobile Food Service Ministry.
 
Attendees came to see how our new trailer could be used to prepare, cook, and serve food. The Trinity – Lisle, Illinois Lutheran Early Response Team (L.E.R.T.) prepared and served dinner to 34 attendees as its first trial run, utilizing COVID safe food service practices.
 
Their team also worked hard cleaning and preparing it for use after LCC received it from Our Savior Lutheran Church in Minot, North Dakota.

The LCC Mobile Food Service Ministry now includes a mobile kitchen, hot dog cart and portable grill. Any of these can now provide opportunities to prep, cook and serve food for service events such as responding to a disaster to feed deployed volunteers and an affected community, and Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS) Northern Illinois District (NID) churches to utilize for community outreach.
 
It is our goal to have certified food handler volunteers from many LCMS NID churches or L.E.R.T. teams that wish to cook and serve meals as a means to bring the mercy, compassion, presence and proclamation of Jesus Christ to those in need.
