LCC K-9 Ministry Teams Return to Las Vegas, Nevada, to Bring Comfort on the Anniversary of the Mandalay Bay Shooting

LCC K-9 Comfort Dogs Lois (First Good Shepherd – Las Vegas, Nevada), Reuben (First Lutheran – Yuba City, California) and Aaron (St. John’s – Napa, California) and their teams responded to a request from several agencies in the Las Vegas area to comfort those who are reliving the horrific concert shootings that happened one year ago on October 1.

On Sunday, September 30, the teams began their day worshiping at Faith Community Lutheran Church. They then visited with staff at Sunrise Hospital where many victims were cared for by their medical staff. On Monday, October 1, those in leadership at Mandalay Bay asked the teams to spend the day visiting with many different departments to help their employees continue to heal and focus on something positive. The common phrases for the day were, “We remember you from last year!” and “Thanks so much for coming back!”  Following the Mandalay Bay visits, they attended a survivors’ vigil next to the shooting site. A very full day ended with the 911 Dispatch Department who took the calls the night of the shooting.

Although it was a year later, there are so many people who are still trying to heal. We ask for prayers for all who were affected by this tragedy.
