LCC K-9 Comfort Dogs Deploy In Less Than 24 Hours to Mass Shooting In Odessa, Texas

In the same month as mass shootings in El Paso, Texas and Dayton, Ohio, LCC K-9 Comfort Dogs will once again deploy in less than 24 hours in response to yet another horrific mass shooting in Odessa, Texas.

On Saturday, August 31, seven people plus the shooter have been killed, twenty-one injured and hundreds traumatized when a gunman opened fire in a series of shootings in western Texas. The incident began during a traffic stop where the gunman shot the officer and then began his shooting spree.

Lutheran Church Charities has been invited by the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod (LCMS) Texas District and Rev. Robert J. Pase of Grace Lutheran Church in Midland, Texas to bring the LCC K-9 Comfort Dogs to the shocked and hurting communities that have been impacted.
 
The following LCC K-9 Comfort Dogs Ministry teams are deploying to be with the families, survivors, and all of the first responders who serve them: Abner (Bethany – Austin, Texas), Elijah (Our Redeemer – Wichita Falls, Texas), Gabriel (Messiah – Houston, Texas), Joy (Gloria Dei – Houston, Texas), and Phoebe (St. Paul – Fort Worth, Texas).

The LCC K-9 Comfort Dogs just completed two weeks of deployment after the shooting at Walmart in El Paso, Texas on August 3.

LCC is a ministry of compassion and presence. We know that comfort is needed at this time to help people heal from yet another senseless and horrific shooing. Help us be the presence of Jesus Christ to this community.
