Two of the featured speakers dealt with the firsthand experience of school shootings. The first was Principal Frank DeAngelis of Columbine High School in Colorado. Frank shared his story of the events of that day and every day since. The second speaker was Michele Gay, a mom whose daughter Josephine was murdered at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Connecticut. Michele shared every step of the gunman from the time in the parking lot until his last step in the school. She talked about “hearing the words you will never forget” in the calls afterwards. During her presentation, a slide was shown of the LCC K-9 Comfort Dogs with the school’s resource officers. Michele then invited LCC up front to recognize them for responding to the Sandy Hook tragedy.
Even though it was heart-wrenching to hear these personal testimonies, the LCC K-9 Ministry teams offered comfort, mercy, compassion and presence throughout the conference. Comments are closed.
