On Friday, February 15, five employees were killed and five police officers and another employee injured after being shot by another employee during an incident that occurred at Henry Pratt Company in Aurora, Illinois.
Twenty LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Ministry teams were deployed on Tuesday, February 19, to serve in 7 schools in Aurora, and to work with first responders after last Friday’s tragic shooting. Additional teams will be working in schools throughout the week calming anxious children and staff who were on a soft lockdown during the incident.
LCC continues to work with both Pastor Alex Merlo of Iglesia Evangelical Lutheran Church and St. Paul Lutheran Church in Aurora, and with Aurora city officials to help bring comfort to those affected by the shooting.
The LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Ministry never charges those we serve as we bring the Mercy, Compassion, Presence and Proclamation of Jesus Christ to those suffering and in need. We know that comfort is needed to help this shocked and devastated community and the first responders who serve them.
Please join LCC in keeping the families, first responders, and the community in your prayers as they move through these extremely trying times.
