LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Ministry Teams Bring Love to Osage High School, Missouri, After Teen Killed in Crash

Last Friday, a horrible tragedy happened in the community of Osage Beach, Missouri, when four teenagers were in a serious car accident. Moses Claxton, a sophomore student at Osage High School, was killed when the vehicle struck a tree. Moses was only 16 years old. Moses’ parents are staff members at Osage High School, where he also attended. Moses’ loss is felt by his parents, brothers Sawyer and Gideon, friends, teachers, and all those who knew and loved Moses and his family.

“Friends, family, and strangers alike were charmed by his gentle grace and generosity that belied an adventurous and fearless streak.” Two other students injured in the car accident on Friday were taken to the hospital with severe injuries, and a fourth teenager with mild injuries. We pray for these three young people for God’s healing, courage, and strength as they move forward after this tragedy.

LCC K-9 Comfort Dogs Boaz (Christ the King - Lake Ozark, Missouri), Jessy & Thomas (St. Paul’s - Concordia, Missouri), and their teams were needed on Tuesday at Osage High School to bring comfort, calm, and support to the staff and teachers as they returned to school. Processing the loss and tragedy of this situation is not one to carry alone. With Jesus by our side, we comfort and love those hurting and grieving.

LCC was invited by Rachel Bullock, Director of Special Services and Compliance, School of the Osage, to bring the LCC K-9 Comfort Dogs to BE THERE for the students and staff.

An LCC Heart of Mercy & Compassion and cross for Moses Claxton were also provided for staff and students to sign with messages and prayers. The HMC and cross provide another safe place to remember Moses and to process the loss they are feeling.

We pray for Moses' family, the three friends who were injured, their families, friends, teachers, and Osage Beach for God’s healing, comfort, peace, and hope.
