Hurricane Michael Relief Collection Donations Help LCC Send a Semi-Truck Filled with 24 Pallets of Critical Food and Items to Panama City, Florida

On November 1, Lutheran Church Charities coordinated the loading of a truck at Immanuel Lutheran Church and Family in Faith Community Food Pantry with donated supplies and food for Trinity Lutheran Church in Panama City, Florida. LCC wishes to thank the many volunteers who helped load at both locations, including the junior high classes at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Palatine, Illinois.

Through generous financial contributions from LCC donors, LCC was able to purchase additional critically needed supplies and food that is not currently available near Panama City: canned meats, Clorox wipes and Gatorade, as well as a washer and dryer that will be used by full time volunteers and staff working out of Trinity.

Donations of scrub buckets, grills, charcoal, roofing tarps and nails, paper goods, toiletries, Gatorade, and non-perishable food were gathered at the following locations:

This truck filled with 24 pallets of much needed supplies will be delivered to Trinity next week. Kathy O’Day, LCC Director of Disaster Response, will be traveling with thirty LCC LERT team members to Panama City to assist in tree and debris removal and bring hope to those feeling hopeless. Team members will also assist in unloading the truck and organizing supplies in the community distribution center that Trinity uses to serve approximately 6,000 people a week since Hurricane Michael made landfall.

LCC K-9 Comfort Dogs Sasha (Island Lutheran – Hilton Head Island, South Carolina), Hope (Faith – Marietta, Georgia), Luke (Christ the Shepherd – Alpharetta, Georgia) and Peace (Trinity – Orlando, Florida) will also arrive in Panama City this weekend to comfort impacted residents, first responders, and volunteers.
