On Saturday, June 24, LCC K-9 Comfort Dogs Hope (Faith - Marietta, Georgia), Lizzie (Trinity - Savannah, Georgia), and Seth (Eternal Shepherd - Seneca, South Carolina) attended the FACTOR Osteosarcoma Conference in Atlanta, Georgia.
The Comfort Dogs met many of this conference's participants, family, and presenters. They were a huge hit with everyone. Linda Kennington, the requester for this event, had this to say. "The visit from Hope, Seth, and Lizzie was even more than I could imagine! I was personally overcome with emotion! Watching our osteowarrior survivors and siblings of our osteoangels love on the three goldens was so moving! And then, to top it off, watching the doctors, researchers, and veterinarians come out of the conference and sit on the floor petting the goldens was really meaningful. It was a most special experience, and I know we would love to have them back at our conference next year in Cleveland, Ohio."
Cindy Baldwin, an LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Lizzie handler, shared this comment. "When our Comfort Dogs arrived in the youth room, a young boy was sleeping and very despondent, but when they gently woke him up, he came alive, and the joy on his face said it all. One of the adult facilitators told us she had not seen him react to any of the other activities like he did when he saw the dogs. We witnessed God using the dogs to bring His love and His joy to so many of the children and adults we visited with. We often heard that the Comfort Dogs were one of the best parts of the conference!"
We look forward to working with this group again!
