LCC K-9 Comfort Dogs Aaron (St. John’s - Napa, California), Micah (Light of the Valley - Elk Grove, California), and Reuben (First Lutheran Church - Yuba City, California) were invited by Rev. Phil Zabell, from CNH District’s Disaster Response to attend the Camp Fire Commemoration events in Magalia and Paradise, California.
On Friday, November 8 and Saturday, November 9 the K-9s joined members of the Paradise and Magalia communities as they commemorated the one-year anniversary of the deadly and devastating wildfires that destroyed 95% of Paradise and surrounding communities. The LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Ministry teams came to show the mercy, compassion, presence, and proclamation of Jesus to those who were affected by the devastating Camp Fire one year ago. Many of these folks lost everything in these horrific fires, to include Rev. Brandon Merrick and his family of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Paradise, California.
The K-9s and their handlers visited with hundreds of residents over the two-day period. Several attendees remembered Aaron Comfort Dog and Reuben Comfort Dog from last year. One gentleman commented, “It is so nice to know that we haven’t been forgotten.”
