On Saturday, September 28, LCC K-9 Police Ministry Dog Amos (Our Savior's Way - Ashburn, Virginia) attended the Law Enforcement Suicide Awareness Walk in Haymarket, Virginia.
The walk was organized by Blue H.E.L.P. to acknowledge the service and sacrifice of law enforcement officers lost to suicide, bring awareness to the issue of post-traumatic stress, reduce the stigma surrounding emotional health, and assist officers in their search for healing.
Proceed will help fund department training, assist families, grief camps, and costs associated with awareness and prevention.
Blue H.E.L.P believes it's not how they died that matters, it's how they lived. Officers who suffer emotional injuries should be recognized, and their service to the community honored.
Sadly, more officers are lost to suicide than line of duty incidents. It was a blessing for Police Ministry Dog Amos to be there for this emotional event, and offer comfort to many.
