The Bereaved Parents of the USA Gathering Conference was held on July 21-23 in Herndon, Virginia, and LCC K-9 Comfort Dogs Amos (Our Savior’s Way - Ashburn, Virginia) and Kezia (Emmanuel - Baltimore, Maryland) were present to support and comfort attendees in their journey with grief and loss. Many said they looked forward to finding us because they know that the LCC K-9 Comfort Dogs are present yearly at their gathering.
One first-time attendee shared that she lost her adult son three years ago, just days before they were to file the paperwork to obtain a service dog for him. She said that our presence with the comfort dogs was reaffirming and a sign that God was with her.
As attendees hugged the comfort dogs deeply Amos and Kezia felt their sadness, listened to their whispers, and absorbed their tears. Some shared cherished memories of their loved ones; when the moments were too hard, we were understanding and patient.
Our presence was a reminder that we are not alone in grief and to hold onto God’s promises when we struggle with heavy burdens, knowing that He will carry us through.
