Lutheran Early Response Team (L.E.R.T.) Chainsaw Volunteers Help an Elderly Woman with Clean-Up after Woodridge, Illinois, June Tornado This past week, Kathy O’Day, LCC Director of Disaster Response, was asked by Chris Bethel, Director of Public Works, Woodridge, Illinois, to send chainsaw help for an elderly woman with extensive tree damage from the June 21st EF-3 tornado. This woman’s daughter worked with the team during the day and was grateful for all of the assistance. She couldn’t believe all that was done. She kept saying, “I keep crying tears of joy. All of you are such a blessing!” LCC extends thanks to the following L.E.R.T. chainsaw volunteers for their willing service: Immanuel, East Dundee – Matt Flynn Prince of Peace, Palatine – Dan and Bobbie Swyndroski St. Peter, Schaumburg – Bob and Barb Royce Trinity, Lisle – Ed Boerman, Mike Kostecki Chris Bethel also sent a note of thanks for the continued willingness to serve in their community. “Thanks, Kathy! I can tell you that they were genuinely appreciative when I spoke with them. Thanks again for what you all are continuing to do.”
The LCC Disaster Response Ministry never charges those we serve. Please donate to the LCC Disaster Response General Fund or Equipment Maintenance & Fuel Expense Fund so that we may continue to show the Mercy, Compassion, Presence and Proclamation of Jesus Christ to those suffering and in need. LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Ministry received all of these beautifully written cards and letters from the students in West Aurora School District 129, in Aurora, Illinois, thanking the Comfort Dogs for visiting them the week of October 25-29. Twenty LCC K-9 Comfort Dogs and their dedicated handlers and ministry partners visited 16 different schools and served over 9,000 students in the district last October.
The Comfort Dogs love all of their friends at West Aurora School District 129 and enjoyed reading all of the lovely cards they wrote and sent. We look forward to visiting them again. |
