A beautiful worship service was followed by a delicious luncheon and fellowship. A presentation on the LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Ministry followed by Top Dog and Northeast Regional Coordinator Joel Wardenburg and Handler Kathryn Sturizk.
In attendance were several ladies who had never heard of or had met an LCC K-9 Comfort Dog. A demonstration of some commands with an interesting exchange of questions and answers were part of the video presentation. A wonderful offering was received on behalf of Team Addie and Leah. We appreciate the support of LWML on a local, zone, district and national for the LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Ministry.
Last week, LCC received the following letter from one of the students at St. John Lutheran School in Lansing, Illinois, via Sue Olson, a teacher. The assignment was to write a paragraph to welcome a new puppy; look up and write the Bible verse and add detail; look up where their name came from and add a detail; and write a prayer. Below is an excerpt from one of the students’ letters to Jemimah:
“Your name in the Bible is Job’s first daughter and that’s really cool because your name had to live with six thousand camels. I wonder if you will ever meet a camel. If you do, be careful, because it might step on you and that would be really bad.” Thank you to Ms. Olson’s class for your kind words and letters. God bless you all! “Blessed are those who mourn for they will be comforted.” Matthew 5:4
This school is approximately 6 miles from Columbine which had a mass shooting 20 years ago.
Please help LCC as we bring the Mercy, Compassion, Presence and Proclamation of Jesus Christ to those who are suffering and in need. We know that comfort is needed to help this devastated community and the first responders who serve them. Please support us by prayer and if you are moved, to help with travel expenses. Thank you for being a part of the Mercy and Compassion Ministry of Lutheran Church Charities Peace in Jesus Christ that passes all human understanding, Tim Hetzner

Passing of the Vest for LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Seth at Eternal Shepherd – Seneca, South Carolina5/7/2019
Joining in the celebration were LCC K-9 Comfort Dogs Hope (Faith – Marietta, Georgia) and Lizzie (Trinity – Savannah, Georgia) and their handlers.
The LCC K-9 Ministry welcomes Seth Comfort Dog and his team as they share the mercy, compassion, presence, and proclamation of Jesus Christ to those who are suffering and in need.
LCC has ordered an 18’ x 96” Workhouse Dual Tandem Gooseneck Dump Trailer with 24” sides that our heavy equipment would be able to load with trees and debris safely and efficiently for hauling at a cost of $19,150. It also has slide out loading ramps to load and transport a bobcat, ditch witch, or small tractor to a site for use.
We are blessed to have very dedicated and experienced LERT volunteers who give their time, talents and financial support to purchase and maintain their own tools, trucks, and heavy equipment. LCC LERT teams are being called to travel and serve in disaster affected areas not only in our own Northern Illinois District, but nationally due to our expertise and available equipment. With increasing requests, this is beginning to take a financial toll on our volunteers and equipment maintenance. LCC does not charge those we serve and will never profit from our service as Christians. We have established a fund to help offset equipment and operating expenses for our volunteers and purchase equipment as needed. Please consider a donation to the Lutheran Church Charities Disaster Response Equipment Maintenance & Fuel Expense Fund so that our LERT disaster response teams may continue to show the mercy, compassion, presence and proclamation of Jesus Christ to those suffering and in need. Your Donations Continue to Assist Churches in Serving Their Communities Affected by Nebraska Floods5/7/2019
Good Shepherd, with Pastor Ryan Ankerson, has become the long term recovery center which will house, feed, and send volunteers into affected communities to work on designated homes for the next year, assisting with resident’s recovery process. Remkea Ockander, Director of Family Ministry, said upon hearing of donations received from LCC, “This donation is an answer to our prayers. We prayed this afternoon about our financial needs this week to provide assistance to communities … and here it is a couple hours later that you have called. What a blessing!”
Please prayerfully consider donating to help LCC continue supporting the individuals and families affected through our churches during their long recovery. |
