On Wednesday, April 8, LCC K-9 Comfort Dogs Ezra (LCC Staff) & Anna (Trinity - Toledo, Ohio) and their handlers virtually visited with a new friend. They shared some love and comfort with Izzy, a very bright, energetic third grader. Her grandmother, who is her caregiver during the day, set up the visit. Izzy’s mother sat in for a little while as well since she is working from home now. Izzy was very excited to see the comfort dogs on the screen! "Izzy was very talkative and told us about her school, and that she misses her friends. Her favorite subject is science, especially about plants and animals. She talked about doing something with animals when she grows up. She also shared that she enjoys riding horses and swimming. She showed us her pet kitty, Aggie. (Although she loves dogs, too!) It was a pleasure to visit with Izzy and make her day a little brighter. I think our visit was a blessing to all of us! I hope we can arrange a "real" visit someday." The team concluded their visit by praying with Izzy.

Making A Difference by Staying Connected! LCC never goes where we are not invited and LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Ministry NEVER charges those we serve. Help us with INCREASING DEMAND due to COVID-19 deaths and suicides LCC’s Hearts of Mercy & Compassion, Crosses for Losses continues to touch lives even in this challenging environment. In these unprecedented times, the need continues to grow. All of the hearts are being made with the loving and caring hands of Christians who are giving of their time and talents. Here are a few examples of how the Hearts of Mercy & Compassion, Crosses for Losses Ministry is showing the love of Jesus through presence and prayer.
Redeemer Lutheran Church in Fort Collins, Colorado will be providing five hearts to individuals in their church and community: a man in senior living confined to a wheelchair who visited with Cubby Comfort Dog on a regular basis; a member of the K-9 Ministry Team who just lost her nephew in California; another member of the K-9 Ministry Team who lost her son; a beloved member of the congregation who lost his son to cancer; and a woman well-known in the community living in a senior living facility. Brookfield Lutheran Church in Brookfield, Wisconsin will be providing a heart to members of their congregation who lost a son in New York City, New York to Covid-19. Chicago Police Officer Marco Di Franco died on April 2 from Covid-19. His teammates in the narcotics division will be honoring him by signing a “Thin Blue Line” heart of mercy later this week. We are so thankful for our law enforcement officers and first responders. “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.” Matthew 5:9 In Collinsville, Illinois, the community is mourning the loss of Phyllis Wallace. Phyllis’s Woman to Woman talk show on KFUO, St. Louis, Missouri, was highly acclaimed and she was loved by all. Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Collinsville presented the heart to Good Shepherd in Collinsville who will give the heart to family this week. Officer Terri Albright with the DuPage County Sheriff Department and law enforcement handler for LCC K-9 Police Ministry Dog Julia (King of Glory – Elgin, Illinois), presented a heart to the medical team at Central DuPage Hospital. We pray to God for the health and safety of all of our medical teams who put their personal safety on the line every day.
