Kare 9 Reba Lifts Spirits of a Long-Time Friend Through a Zoom Call

On Wednesday, April 22, LCC Kare 9 Military Ministry Dog Reba (LCC Squad) and her veteran handler had a Zoom meeting with a friend whom they haven't seen for a long time. He wasn't doing well and the visit lifted his spirits.

"I was thinking how good it is that people can get together on their computers while they have to stay inside proving that we are never really alone."

Peace Comfort Dog Virtually Visits with Girl Scout Troop

On Sunday, April 19, LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Peace (Trinity - Orlando, Florida) was able to "get out of the house" through some virtual visits.

Peace Comfort Dog and his handler visited with Girl Scout Troop 74803 from Lakeland, Florida. "There were 10 super smart and really nice girls who had lots of great questions for me. I look forward to seeing them all on real visits soon. Thanks for visiting with me!"

They also visited with Trinity Downtown church member who's having surgery. Please keep her in your prayers!

Isaiah Comfort Dog Offers Encouragement From a Safe Distance

On Monday, April 27, LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Isaiah (Trinity - Hobart, Indiana) and his handler were present outside Portage High School in Portage, Indiana to offer encouragement from a safe distance to the teachers and students during food distribution. What a blessing the staff have been!

Lizzie Comfort Dog Participates In a "Safe Distance" Parade

On Saturday, April 25, LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Lizzie (Trinity - Savannah, Georgia) was part of a “safe distance” parade at The Suites At Station Exchange Assisted Living in Richmond Hill, Georgia.

"It was such a blessing to see the residents' smiles and hear their laughter. My team was touched by it every bit as much as I was. Thank you for having us!"

JoJo Comfort Dog Staying In Touch With People She Loves!

LCC K-9 Comfort Dog JoJo (Living Christ - Arlington Heights, Illinois) and her handlers are staying in touch with the people they love! On Friday, April 24 the team stopped by to say "hello" to a dear friend and to let her know that she is missed! Although it was a distant "hello", it meant a lot to her!

Emma & Ruthie Comfort Dogs Bring Smiles at St. Matthew's Drive Up Community Dinner

On Thursday, April 23, LCC K-9 Comfort Dogs Emma & Ruthie (LCC Staff) and their handlers were present, while practicing social distancing, during St. Matthew Lutheran Church's Drive Up Community Dinner in Barrington, Illinois. The K-9s brought smiles to people in their cars who waved to them as they were leaving.

Prior to COVID-19 pandemic, St. Matthew participated with several area churches to serve a community meal one night each month. Since the pandemic, St. Matthew is now serving a community meal every Thursday evening. If the last three Thursdays are any indication, the need will remain for some time as last week over 300 meals were served with drive up service. Drivers would wait in their cars while meals were put on tables next to their cars. Drivers would then get out and put the meals in their cars. Pastor Michael Brown greeted each car coming into the queue. At all times, proper social distancing was maintained and all staff and volunteers wore masks.

Please continue to lift up these wonderful servants and all those who are filling the essential needs of so many.

Cubby Comfort Dog's Special Birthday Delivery

On Saturday, April 25, LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Cubby’s (Redeemer – Fort Collins, Colorado) handler delivered a special gift to their friend, Letha, who turned 88! Cubby Comfort Dog wasn't able to greet her in person, but her handler made sure that she received a mini-Cubby. Happy Blessed Birthday Letha!

LCC K-9 Ministry Teams Deliver Items for Those in Need

On Friday, April 24, LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Ezra’s (LCC Staff) and LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Anna’s (Trinity – Toledo, Ohio) Ministry teams delivered items to the Cherry Street Mission and Sparrows Nest facilities for those that are in need. Since the K-9s were unable to be present, they sent their mini-me stuffies along!

“Their vision, 'To share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with every man, woman, and child affected by homelessness and poverty' is much like that of the LCC K-9 Comfort Dog’s Ministry. We pray for those that are in need, especially during this time of COVID-19. Thank you to Thrivent and to the Trinity Lutheran Church and School Comfort Dog Ministry for providing the funds for these donations.”

Charity Comfort Dog Checks In On Friends From Froedert Hospital

On Tuesday, April 21, LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Charity (Brookfield – Brookfield, Wisconsin) checked in on her friends from Froedert Hospital in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin whom she misses terribly! Charity Comfort Dog and her handlers wanted to let them know that they think about them often. They also sent some lunch and a silly picture to make them smile.

A few days later, the staff at Froedert Hospital sent a special picture to Charity Comfort Dog and her team which was posted on her Facebook page on Monday, April 27 with the following message:

"There are some AMAZING people pictured here! These are some of my friends who work in the MICU, which has turned into the floor treating the COVID-19 patients. My team and I sent them a delicious, hot meal to keep them nourished during their long shifts this past weekend. I also sent a silly picture of me to make them smile. To my friends, THANK YOU for all that you are doing right now and I love and miss you too! We will all continue to pray for you!"
