Ezra Comfort Dog Virtually Visits With a New Friend

On Monday, May 17, LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Ezra (LCC Staff) and his handler held a virtual visit with a new friend, Terry who does lots of volunteering for the LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Ministry!

"I did a 'rise' so I could get really close to the camera for him and he gave me a virtual kiss! Now that’s a first and I loved it!! Thanks, Terry, for the awesome virtual visit! Sure hope we can do it again!!

Emma, Hannah & Ruthie Comfort Dogs Zoom with Therapists

On Saturday, May 16, LCC K-9 Comfort Dogs Emma, Hannah and Ruthie (LCC Staff) with their handlers held a Zoom call with the Couch Clarity therapists from Villa Park, Illinois. The call lasted one hour with a number of therapists coming and going into the meeting.

The K-9s' handlers explained the LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Ministry to the group and how the Comfort Dogs and their ministry team members are meeting the needs of people in their communities that not only need the compassion of a loving Golden Retriever but a Christian to listen to them and offer prayer.

The group was very interested in the many responses that LCC does to suicide, first responders, child advocacy in courts and the many national disaster responses that we have done around the country being a national ministry.

This is a dedicated group of therapists that work in many areas of therapy and they all have hearts to serve their clients. They were very happy that we are connecting virtually with people since much of their work right now is the same.

LCC looks forward to working with Couch Clarity in the future.

On Thursday, May 14, LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Mahlah (Our Savior - Milford, Illinois) and her handler made a surprise visit to St. Paul’s 1st and 2nd grade class.

Joanna Comfort Dog Gives Love Through Windows

On Wednesday, May 13, LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Joanna (Christ Lutheran - Lincoln, Nebraska) and her handler did window visits at High Plains Alzheimer's Special Care Center in Lincoln, Nebraska. They waved and gave love through the windows. It was nice to see the residents' smiles!

On Tuesday, May 12, LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Joanna (Christ Lutheran - Lincoln, Nebraska) and her handler did window visits at Oxbow Living Center in Ashland, Nebraska. Although the residents were not able to pet Joanna Comfort Dog, she shared a lot of love and brought smiles to many.

Peace Comfort Dog Delivers Peace-Cards to Senior Residents

On Friday, May 15, LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Peace (Trinity - Orlando, Florida) and his handler delivered Peace-cards to residents at Brookdale Conway, Brookdale, Dr. Phillips and The Commons at Orlando Lutheran Towers. Peace Comfort Dog visits some of the residents regularly.

"Although I wasn't able to see anyone, I was happy to let them know I'm thinking about them and they are not alone. I invited them to do Virtual Visits with me and the other LCC K-9 Comfort Dogs. Hope to see you all soon!"

Kare 9s Britta & Butch Participate in a Family Parade

On Friday, May 15, LCC Kare 9 Military Ministry Dogs Britta and Butch (LCC Squad) and their veteran handlers participated in a Family Parade at Pearl Pavilion: A Premier Rehab & Healing Center in Freeport, Illinois.

On Wednesday, May 13, LCC K-9 Police Ministry Dog Mahlah (Our Savior - Milford, Illinois) and her law enforcement handler placed a yard sign and gave a shout out to all police officers in honor of National Police Week.

Cubby Comfort Dog Places Signs in Honor of National Police Week

Last week, LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Cubby (Fort Collins - Colorado) and a couple of his team members placed signs at various police departments in honor of National Police Week. Thank you Loveland Police Department, Fort Collins Police Services, Windsor Police Department Town of Windsor Colorado, Timnath Police Department and Johnstown Police Department. They also delivered signs to Weld County Sheriff's Office and Greeley Police Department.

On Wednesday, May 13, Cubby Comfort Dog and his handlers saw their good friend Master Police Officer Dave at Loveland Police Department and their two good friends at Fort Collins Police Services.

On Friday, May 15, Cubby Comfort Dog and some of his handlers planted signs to honor essential workers. They went to the Windsor Severance Fire Rescue and Loveland Fire Rescue Authority, Stations 1 and 6. They sent extra love to Windsor Severance Fire Rescue as they recently responded to a tragic drowning of a 13-year-old boy.

Donated Disaster Response Mobile Units Arrive at LCC!

Help LCC Expand Our Disaster Response Services

Lutheran Church Charities has graciously accepted a donation of four Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod (LCMS) Disaster Response units used by Our Savior Lutheran Church in Minot, North Dakota in the Hope Village Camp. They operated the units for families to live in during the several year rebuild after their town was destroyed by massive flooding.

The disaster response units arrived at Lutheran Church Charities yesterday. They include a professional Mobile Kitchen valued at $52,000, a Bunk House trailer valued at $36,000 that can sleep 12 and two 18’ refrigeration trailers valued at $21,000 each. When the volunteers picked up the units in North Dakota on Monday, they expressed how impressive and professional-looking they are and feel they will be a great addition to LCC's Disaster Response Ministry.

Each of these units will expand the services LCC Disaster Response will be able to offer when responding to a disaster in the Northern Illinois District or nationally as we are invited to serve in other states.

It cost $6,700 to make repairs and purchase tires for each of these units to make them safe for long-distance hauling and cover travel expenses of four Lutheran Early Response Team (L.E.R.T.) volunteers.

Please prayerfully consider a donation to LCC Disaster Response Equipment Maintenance & Fuel Expense Fund so that we may continue to show the mercy, compassion, presence and proclamation of Jesus Christ to those suffering and in need.
