LCC K-9 Ministry Teams Comfort Law Enforcement, Family and Friends of Racine Police Officer Killed in the Line of DutyOn Monday, June 17, Racine (Wisconsin) Police Officer, John Hetland (age 49), was killed in the line of duty after he was shot by an armed robbery suspect. John was a 24-year veteran of the police department, and Vice President of the Racine Police Association. He also served as a board member of the Wisconsin Professional Police Association, and a member of the FBI Gang Task Force. He had received many awards for distinguished service during his career, and he had planned to retire this year to spend more time with his family.

Lutheran Church Charities Welcome New Affiliate Members to the K-9 Comfort Dog MinistryLast Week (June 26-28), Light of the Valley Lutheran Church in Elk Grove, California and Redeemer Lutheran Church in Spokane, Washington joined LCC staff for handler training. Each church was very excited to meet their new LCC K-9 Comfort Dog and to become part of the LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Ministry. The new handlers and caregivers spent many hours training in ministry and in handler skills.
LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Micah will serve as Light of the Valley Lutheran Church’s bridge in showing the Mercy, Compassion, and Presence of Jesus Christ to those who are suffering and in need.
Redeemer Lutheran Church’s LCC K-9 Comfort Dog is Marie. Marie will serve as their handlers’ bridge so they can be the Hands and Feet of Jesus Christ to those who are suffering and in need. -

Matthew Warrick’s journey on the Pacific Crest Trail approaches 800 miles after 43 days, hiking from the boarder of Southern California / Mexico to Canada.
During his hike, Matthew is raising awareness and funds for the LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Ministry. Matthew is a member of Bethany – Austin, Texas, home of LCC K-9 Comfort Dogs, Abner and Martha.
