Feed the Invisible Guest
|
You recognize this prayer written by Martin Luther …
Come Lord Jesus, be our guest And let thy gifts to us be blessed. Amen If we really mean this prayer and want Jesus to be your Guest – wouldn’t we feed him also? Consider becoming a part of LCC’s individual challenge and FEED THE INVISIBLE GUEST – AND MAKE HIM VISIBLE program to help feed the hungry. FEED THE INVISIBLE GUEST program
Here’s how it works: Each time you eat a meal, set aside the cost of feeding one more person – the invisible guest – Jesus, and make him visible. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat ... for whatever you have done unto the least of these, you did for me. - Matthew 25:35 + 40 At the end of each month, donate the money to one of LCC’s ministry projects of Feeding ONE OF THE LEAST OF THESE. Current LCC ONE OF THE LEAST OF THESE projects: - Children and Adults in Haiti through our Lutheran Church in Haiti - Pastor Loza’s Soup Kitchen in Chicago – Pilsen Neighborhood - Pastor John Brazeal – Christ the King – Chicago If you know of other ministries to add to the list that feed the hungry – and proclaim Christ in their feeding of those in need, contact Tim Hetzner at LCC at 866-455-6466 or email Tim at [email protected] Thank you for MAKING A DIFFERENCE in People’s Lives and God’s Kingdom. |
Children and Adults in Haiti through our Lutheran Church in Haiti
Pastor Loza’s Soup Kitchen in Chicago – Pilsen Neighborhood
LCC received the following request from Pastor Julio Loza from St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Chicago, home of the El Comedor Soup Kitchen, a ministry partner of LCC:
St. Matthew Lutheran Church El Comedor Popular Soup Kitchen building has been pounded by heavy snow and freezing weather and caused damage in the building. Even during below zero temperatures, the soup kitchen's volunteers continue to cook and serve hot meals to the homeless, unemployed, seniors and poor families. The cost of food has increased: a pound of chicken that was $.69 a pound is now $.99 a pound. The gas bills have been so high it caused an overdraft in our checking account. Again, St. Matthew, a self-supporting mission, faces hard times like many other Americans.
We ask our mission partners, friends and fellow Lutherans to help us as in the past to overcome our financial needs to continue a ministry of Christ's love and compassion to the hungry in Chicago. I pray that the Lord will bless your efforts to assist St. Matthew's mission of faith.
In Christ,
Rev. Julio Loza
