LCC Connects Generations Through
|

High school and college students are connected with older adults and put in ministry range ofone another through phone calls, letters, on-line relationships, and prayer. The purpose is to intentionally connect the younger and the older generations to provide ministry opportunities between all ages. Young people volunteer to spend time “encourAGING” the older in their own church, community, state, country, and even the world. Congregations will be invited to help enlist both the younger people and the older members and friends of the congregations to initiate these relationships in order for them to begin and to grow. Young people, on their own personal time schedule, will contact their new P.E.P Corps person through the congregation, retirement and nursing facilities, and personal relationships. Greetings will be shared, ideas will be discussed, personal stories will be told, prayers and Bible study will happen, songs may be sung, stories of the “good old days” will be told, laughs will ring out, and ministry partnerships will develop as the Lord leads.

These P.E.P. Corps relationships will develop and last for a few weeks, a month, a year, or forever, depending on the individuals’ needs, schedules, and situations.
Ideally, these “People EncourAGING People” Corps will be initiated by LCC who will also encourage local congregations to develop their own P.E.P. Corps within their own faith networks, with encouragement and support from LCC. We realize inter-generational ministries are already happening in so many ways. This model is focused on elevating the awareness, strong need, availability of youth and older adults, and aching need for relationships to be developed much stronger and more intentional between generations.
LCC will initiate these P.E.P. Corps this summer of 2020 to model and test this ministry approach, learn from it, and develop it further as the Lord leads and guides. LCC is seeking your input, suggestions, questions, and involvement in our new P.E.P. Corps ministry.
After all, this is what the Church is all about - People EncourAGING People, in the name of Jesus!
I’m full of P.E.P. – How about you! Dr. Rich Bimler LCC Ministry Consultant ![]()
