Welcome to Crisis Response (CR) Training. CR Training is where you will become trained and certified to serve those who have experienced a crisis by administering emotional or spiritual first aid. You and your team will learn how to be there with those suffering and in need through caring, listening, and being an empathetic presence in order to truly love and serve our neighbor as Jesus taught us. LCC has secured a licensed agreement with Wheaton College’s Humanitarian Disaster Institute, enabling all LCC staff and affiliate teams to be trained in Spiritual First Aid, either in-person as part of a group (when available) or online (anytime). This will provide us with the needed confidence in serving those who are suffering as well as a common language and understanding. |
Crisis Response Teams
One other way that you will hear our Crisis Response Training and spiritual first aid being applied is in the development of Crisis Response Teams. Think of these teams as another branch of the LCC ministry team. Just like we have Disaster Response (DR), LCC K-9 Comfort Dogs (K-9), Hearts of Mercy & Compassion (HMC), and Human Care (HC), LCC is adding Crisis Response (CR). These teams will not have a leash, a chainsaw, hearts and cross markers, nor humanitarian supplies. They will serve out of LCC affiliate congregations responding to crisis situations in their communities. They will specialize in responding both independently and alongside our LCC deployments. These teams will not only be a complement to our ministry efforts but will truly open opportunities for more people to join LCC and bring hope to the growing need for Jesus in all of our communities. Thank you for making this investment of time to go through this training
and for all you do to support this ministry. We pray you will be blessed personally and among your team with this experience. |
Frequently Asked Questions
What is CR?
What is CR?
CR stands for Crisis Response where trained and certified individuals serve those who have experienced a crisis with a caring, listening, and empathetic presence through Spiritual First Aid (SFA), sometimes referred to as Emotional First Aid (EFA).
Why CR?
WHY CR?
LCC CR Teams work out of the love and support of a Christian community that is committed to serving our neighbors as Jesus taught. LCC CR Teams will be there with those who are suffering grief, loss, loneliness, and other forms of emotional suffering. These needs are always present in our communities and should be addressed. However, following a crisis a more immediate response is critical for recovery and healing. Such immediate response is the goal of every LCC CR Team. Such immediate presence has been shown to be the best way to serve following a crisis. Studies have demonstrated that individuals who receive spiritual and emotional first aid find stronger recovery and healing following a crisis over those not receiving such intervention. This same positive effect was found from immediate SFA/EFA intervention when compared with those who entered in long term counseling relationships without such immediate intervention.
