Lutheran Church Charities held a Rigging & Knots and Lift training instruction at Walcamp on June 8. This LCC advanced chainsaw class was co-led by LCC/LCMS Chainsaw Certified Instructors Marty Johnson and Pete Springmire. These five new lift chainsaw operators received individual instruction and guidance from advanced team leaders as they began to practice how to operate the boom lift. They also learned how to safely and effectively use the different knots and rigging techniques to remove damaged trees and limbs. We are grateful for the following volunteers who seek to grow in their knowledge and learn more specialized skill sets in order to serve those with tree destruction after a disaster. Illinois

Emergency Funds Needed in Haiti to Purchase Food After a Weekend of Heavy Rains and Flooding6/6/2023
Your Donations Needed to Purchase Food That Will Be Delivered Immediately The most urgent need right now is food. Lophane Laurent is in Haiti now and is able to buy food and deliver it to the Pastors in the affected areas to distribute. Blessings to everyone! It has been raining so bad in Port-au-Prince and there are a few blocks that are flooding. People in an area called Tabare close to the U.S. embassy and the international airport are asking for help and we can’t do anything for them now. Please keep them in your prayers as it still raining so bad. I can’t go out just to make a short visit. Please keep me in your prayers and Haitian staff. The video is from the Leogane area by the LCMS building. Blessings, Lophane Laurent Please prayerfully consider making a monetary donation to enable Lutheran Church Charities to send emergency funds to Haiti to help provide food during the current crisis.
Thank you for being a part of the Mercy and Compassion Ministry of Lutheran Church Charities. More Sponsors Needed - School Starts September 11 Giving Hope and a Future in an Otherwise Hopeless Situation Lutheran Church Charities has supported the education of students from the tent city in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, since 2012. Public and private education in Haiti costs money - there is NO free education. Our Lutheran schools also charge, but they are less expensive than the public schools. The cost of tuition is $65 per month. The civil unrest in Haiti continues to disrupt all aspects of life. LCC received the following update from Lophane Laurent in Haiti: Greetings from our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, The kids continue going to school even with all the unrest but God always guides them and their parents. Yesterday I spent a good time with the kids sharing the gospel and talking to them about their future. We have 4 of them who will graduate from high school in July. Please keep them in prayers, they are from the first group to get the scholarship program after the earthquake. Inflation is now 47%. Food is getting more expensive every day and there are no jobs because most of the businesses are closed and their owners leave Haiti. 70% in Haiti are not working. So I can tell you when you support a kid to go to school it’s more than a blessing. Please tell the donors thank you so much from the parents and the kids. May our God continue to bless each of you. We love you so much. Lophane Laurent
LCC K-9 Ministry Teams Return to Allen, Texas, as Mall Reopens Nearly One Month after Mass Shooting6/6/2023
On Wednesday, May 31, LCC K-9 Comfort Dog® Ministry was invited back to Allen Premium Outlets in Allen, Texas, to be present as the mall reopened nearly one month after a mass shooting that took place on May 6, killing eight people. LCC K-9 Comfort Dogs Elijah (Our Redeemer – Wichita Fall, Texas), Miriam (Emmanuel – Kingfisher, Oklahoma), Pax (St. Paul – Fort Worth, Texas), Persis (King of Kings – Glenpool, Oklahoma), Phoebe (St. Paul – Fort Worth, Texas), Triton (Messiah – Plano, Texas) and their teams were a comforting presence to the employees as they returned to work. The shoppers were also happy to see the Comfort Dogs. LCC K-9 Comfort Dogs Pax's & Phoebe's team shared: "Emotions ran high for some. But we soon discovered they had a lot in common. We noticed their desire to be around us and talk with our team members. Inside the stores, by the flagpole, and under the tent, we found many who wanted to just take a little time and be with us. We are so glad they did!" The teams received a very special card. The front was made from the artwork of one of the students who was a victim, Daniela. The card was signed by the teachers and staff of Cox Elementary. The note inside read: "The front of this card is the beautiful artwork of Daniela. The unfinished artwork reminds us that this is not the end and that there is still work to do. It inspires us to continue to teach, love, and guide every student in our care. Love is stronger." Please join us in praying for the staff and community as they continue to grieve and process the tragedy that took place at the Allen Premium Outlets.
LCC received a request for assistance for a Jordanian immigrant from Pastor Hesham Shehab of Salam Christian Fellowship in Lombard, Illinois. Dear Friends, Salam is helping Samia, a Jordanian immigrant, get and register a car. Samia is a hard-working woman in her early 30s. She came to the USA after she made contact with a Salam convert in Chicagoland. Samia was baptized two months after she set foot on American soil and found work after 10 days after her arrival, and has never lived on welfare. We need $440 in order to register her vehicle. Please show the love of Christ to this new sister. Pastor Hesham Shehab Salam Christian Fellowship Lombard, Illinois
