As part of their Silver Award for Girl Scouts, Elizabeth, and Paige chose to honor the “Unsung Heroes” of the Waukesha Christmas Parade tragedy that occurred in 2021. They picked the LCC K-9 Comfort Dogs and the Police K9s. Elizabeth and Paige created flyers and social media posts and even got the word out on news media channels that they were collecting donations of items for K9 working dogs. LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Charity (Brookfield - Brookfield, Wisconsin) and her handler was there to accept the gift box of donations from the Girls Scout Troop. The donations came from businesses in the area and caring people from across the nation. We have been blessed beyond measure and will continue the great mission of helping those in need. On Friday, April 14, LCC Kare 9® Military Ministry Dog Nigel (LCC Staff) and LCC K-9 Comfort Dog-in Training Lazarus were present to bring love, mercy and compassion to the exhibitors and attendees at the Bloomingdale Chamber of Commerce Senior Fair. The K-9s greeted close to 500 people who attended the fair. As always, the Comfort Dogs were recognized by many who had met our ministry in the past.
On Tuesday, April 11, LCC Kare 9® Military Ministry Dog Amos (Our Savior's Way - Ashburn, Virginia) and his veteran handler were honored to join LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Kezia (Emmanual - Baltimore, Maryland) in Washington, D.C., to meet LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Isaac (Redeemer - Spokane, Washington) and the 95 veterans from the Inland Northwest Honor Flight. It is truly a privilege to honor and welcome the veterans to the memorials, recognize their service, and be present to offer the comfort of Jesus's love as the veterans experience the many emotions that this trip brings to our nation's Heroes. We accompanied veterans from WWII and the Korean and Vietnam Wars as we walked alongside them in support. We prayed for those who have died in their service to our country and for the treasured memories of those who love and mourn them. At one point, after finding his friend's name on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial wall, a veteran went over to Amos and hugged him deeply while sobbing. He told us that he had just lost his dog last week. They carry their losses, still as painful as ever. We each experienced conversations with the veterans telling us their stories and memories, and it was a great honor to listen to and share their experiences. Amos' veteran handler enjoyed a special camaraderie when meeting two fellow Coast Guard veterans. God is so good to have placed us there to share His comfort and love. 5 Staff Killed |
Lutheran Church Charities was invited by Our Savior Lutheran Church & School in Louisville, Kentucky, home of LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Mercy, to serve the shocked and hurting community that has been greatly impacted by this tragic mass shooting. LCC K-9 Comfort Dogs Caleb (Immanuel – Valparaiso, Indiana), Magdalene (Cornerstone – Carmel, Indiana), and Mercy (Our Savior – Louisville, Kentucky) and their handlers will be present to listen to those who are grieving, bringing them comfort, love, friendship, hope, and prayer. The students and staff of Our Savior Lutheran School shared prayer and devotion time with the K-9 Ministry teams prior to their departure to downtown Louisville. |
Please join LCC as we pray for the Louisville community during this incredibly difficult time and for all of the first responders who heroically responded to a very difficult scene.
LCC's K-9 Comfort Dog Ministry and Hearts of Mercy & Compassion Ministry never charge those we serve as we bring the Mercy, Compassion, Presence and Proclamation of Jesus Christ to those suffering and in need. We know that comfort is needed to help this shocked and devastated community and the first responders who serve them.
On March 31, an EF-3 tornado at 165 mph tracked just over thirty-four miles from West Little Rock through North Little Rock, Sherwood, and Jacksonville leaving a path of destruction, injury, and death. There were at least 2,700 structures impacted and 60,000 power outages. More than fifty people were injured and admitted to hospitals. Miraculously, only one person was killed. |
Many of these families had major damage, or their home was completely destroyed. Homeowners were grateful for the love shown to them by caring Christians.
Many homeowner sites have extensive damage and clean-up efforts will take 1-2 days to complete. L.E.R.T volunteers are on the ground this week and already serving. Additional LCC L.E.R.T. volunteers will arrive by Saturday. There is much work to be done and our volunteers are blessed to serve with willing hands and compassionate hearts, showing Christ’s love and care to those in need.
We NEVER charge those we serve!

Thirteen Work Sites Completed with Many Multi-Day Jobs Due to Extensive Property Damage After collaboration with local Emergency Management officials and an in-person National Weather Service Damage Survey, it has been determined that fourteen tornadoes, along with a 70-90 mph wind event, devastated the Northern Illinois District on Thursday, March 30. This same storm system caused 84 tornadoes, 325 wind, and 168 hail events in 8 states: Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Illinois, Iowa, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Wisconsin. |
The L.E.R.T. team member said being on the receiving end of help and care was very different. The new homeowner couldn’t believe that we would spend several days working on just their home and showing her Christ’s love and care. She hugged many volunteers and cried tears of relief at how she was blessed by all.
Lutheran Church Charities would also like to thank Kenny Freeman for allowing the Immanuel, Belvidere L.E.R.T. team to use his bobcat last week and David Gallano of Gallano Trucking for picking up and disposing of all of the cut wood and brush from four homes after the county said they would not pick up storm damaged trees. LCC never goes where we are not invited. We NEVER charge those we serve! |

LCC Kare 9® Military Ministry Dogs Aaron (St. John - Napa California), Genesis (Good Shepherd - Turlock, California), Micah (Light of the Valley - Elk Grove, California), and Rahab (St. Andrews - Stockton, California), were invited to Moffett Air Force Base, Fun Run and Resource Fair to support awareness of sexual assault and prevention. The runners enjoyed being colored in paint and also spending time with the Comfort Dogs. The K-9 teams enjoyed the day visiting with our service men and women. The teams had an opportunity to talk about the LCC ministry, and especially how LCC names the dogs after biblical names and stories. Supporting our troops is one of the highest honors. May God watch over them and protect, give them strength and may our nation never forget their sacrifices. "Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." Isaiah 41:10 | |
Fourteen Tornadoes Resulted in One Death, Multiple Injuries,
and Extensive Property Damage

LCC L.E.R.T. volunteers worked on one block for two days serving five different homeowners that each had multiple large pine trees leaning or downed on their properties. Each of these families were very appreciative to have willing hands and hearts to work hard to make their homes safe again.
Helping a Young Family with Large Tree Removal LCC L.E.R.T. volunteers helped a member of Immanuel DeKalb with a large tree on their roof and in their yard. This young family is facing multiple serious health issues and felt so blessed to have the support and assistance to make their home safe at no cost to them. They truly believe that God is with them and will provide for their needs as they arise. |
She was very grateful for the help to get this removed so they could enter and exit their home safely.
She was also very happy to receive a cross on a slice from their tree to share with family. It seemed very appropriate and special this Holy Week.
