LCC Hearts of Mercy & Compassion and K-9 Comfort Dog Ministry Teams Deploying to Fordyce, Arkansas, to BE THERE for Traumatized Community
Four residents killed, 10 others wounded, including 2 law enforcement officers
“The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. Those who know Your name trust in You, for You, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek You.” Psalm 9:9-10
Pastor Stewart Marshall of Trinity Lutheran Church in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, has invited Lutheran Church Charities to bring Hearts of Mercy & Compassion and LCC K-9 Comfort Dog teams to provide support and presence for the community of Fordyce, Arkansas, where 4 residents were killed and 10 others wounded in a shooting at a grocery store parking lot on Friday. Two of the injured are law enforcement officers.
“A lot of people are frightened,” city council member Roderick Rogers told media over the weekend. “We are just traumatized.”
In response, Lutheran Church Charities President/CEO Chris Singer, along with Eric Wendelbo and Mark Holt of the Hearts of Mercy & Compassion Team from Christ the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Persis, with K-9 handlers Roxy and Steve Hurry (a retired police officer) of the LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Ministries Team from King of Kings Lutheran Church in Glenpool, Oklahoma, deployed Monday afternoon to Fordyce to be with the families, survivors, and the first responders who serve them.
LCC places hearts and crosses and visits with K-9 Comfort Dogs as a reminder to hurting communities like Fordyce that people across the nation love and support them. LCC seeks to provide those impacted by tragedy with opportunities to process their grief and receive messages of love and hope, ultimately finding solace found only in Jesus Christ.
Thanks to your support, we can BE THERE!
Please keep the Fordyce community in your prayers. May the Lord open doors for these teams to deliver the mercy, compassion, presence, and proclamation of Jesus.
Thank you for being a part of the Mercy & Compassion and LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Ministries of Lutheran Church Charities.
