Sometimes the heaviest burdens are carried by those who ask for nothing. LCC Cares Ministry received an appeal from Pastor Mark Goble (pictured) of Christ The King Lutheran Church in Memphis, TN. He shared that Petty Officer Third Class Jarrett Brown, a Marine Safety Technician and Coast Guard Reservist, has faithfully served our country while caring for his wife and their five children. Today, this devoted father faces a battle no parent should ever endure. Recently, Jarrett and his wife learned that their precious 20-month-old daughter Juliet is suffering from advanced cancer. This devastating diagnosis comes after the family already experienced the heartbreaking loss of their oldest son just a few years ago. Juliet has been accepted for treatment at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis. “We thank God that St. Jude provides extraordinary medical care without charge. Yet, the many expenses surrounding Juliet's treatment are mounting rapidly,” shared Pastor Goble. To care for their daughter, both Jarrett and his wife, a hospice nurse, have been forced to take unpaid leave from their jobs. Frequent travel across state lines for treatment, temporary housing, meals, and everyday expenses are placing an overwhelming financial strain on this family. Jarrett's command has been incredibly supportive and is working to bring him onto active duty closer to the hospital so his family can access additional benefits. Unfortunately, these processes take time, and the need is immediate. Those who know Jarrett describe him as humble, hardworking, and proud; someone who rarely asks for help. But after weeks of carrying this unimaginable burden, exhaustion is setting in. "As the Body of Christ, we are called to step into moments like these. When one family suffers, we all have the opportunity to reflect God's love through compassion and generosity," Pastor Goble wrote. Will you prayerfully consider making a gift to help support this family during this difficult season? Your donation will help ease the financial burden of travel, housing, and daily necessities, allowing Jarrett and his wife to focus on what matters most: loving and caring for little Juliet. Please also join us in praying for God's healing hand upon Juliet, for strength and comfort for her parents and siblings, and for the peace that only Christ can provide in the midst of uncertainty. Together, we can be the hands and feet of Jesus to a family in desperate need of hope. Comments are closed.
