On the Sunday after Thanksgiving, Pastor Joshua Gale, LCC Executive Director, was pleased to preach and celebrate the Sacrament at St. John Lutheran Church in Northbrook, Illinois to thank them for their generous support and partnership in the Gospel. They have a strong dedication to the mission of LCC and have been instrumental in supporting us to bring the mercy, compassion, presence and proclamation of Jesus Christ to those who are suffering and in need. On Thursday, December 7, several teams from the LCC K-9 Police Ministry and LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Ministry attended a seminar in Omaha, Nebraska dealing with emotional survival for first responders. The course was held at King of Kings Lutheran Church and was attended by hundreds of dedicated public servants. LCC was pleased to support them all through the following dogs and their handlers with a police or fire service background: LCC K-9 Police Ministry Dog Shiloh (Christ Our Savior - Dixon, Illinois) LCC K-9 Police Ministry Dog Eve (St. John - Lombard, Illinois) LCC K-9 Police Ministry Dog Gracie (Trinity- Davenport, Iowa) LCC K-9 Police Ministry Dog Eddie (Peace Lutheran - Grand Island, Nebraska) LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Moses (Christ Lutheran - Cairo, Nebraska) LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Katie (Trinity - Fremont, Nebraska) Candace (Comfort Dog in training)

LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Ezra will remain an LCC owned staff dog to maintain a separation of church and state. His court system scheduling will be handled through the Prosecutor’s Office in coordination with LCC and Trinity Lutheran Church in Toledo, Ohio. LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Ezra will have three court system handlers, two victim advocates and one Deputy Sheriff, plus handlers from Trinity Lutheran Church. LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Ezra will have caregivers from Trinity Lutheran, who is also the home to LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Anna. LCC will be covering the cost of the K-9 Comfort Dog, veterinarian expenses, food and care for the LCC K-9 Comfort Dog. Individual or Corporate Sponsors are also being sought. Please consider donating to help cover the cost for LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Ezra as they serve those in need. Thank you for being the hands and feet of Jesus to those in need.
$1,000 will provide food and a Christmas present for each of the 40 children sponsored by Lutheran Church Charities. Your generous gifts sponsor Haitian children for scholarships so that they receive a hot meal every day at school. For many of these children that is their one good meal of the day. Last year food kits containing rice, beans, oil, spaghetti, and milk were distributed to the children and their families so that they could continue to eat daily during the Christmas break. Please consider a donation for a Christmas gift of food for these children and their families. |
