Christ the King Lutheran School in Chicago, Illinois, is ready for another school year! This summer, they started renovating the Kindergarten classroom; featuring new bookcases, paint, and updated electrical needs. They are ready to welcome new students to this beautifully updated space. LCC Staff members Jamie Miller and Wayne Kolweier, joined by LCC volunteer Terry Styka made a few trips to Chicago to help Pastor John Brazeal, and Principal Geri Brazeal put together all the furniture and painting. Because of your generous donations, this need has been met! LCC received the following note from Pastor Don Love at Faith, Merrill & St. John Lutheran Church, Hamburg, Wisconsin: Dear LCC supporters, Thanks and Praise to You, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Thank you so very much for the gift for this family. The young couple is truly struggling and trying to be strong in the faith. This was a great surprise and a strengthening of faith for the young couple and their children. It helped spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ! Lutheran Church Charities has been a blessing to so many people in more ways than you know! God's Blessings, Pastor Don Love Faith, Merrill & St. John Lutheran Church, Hamburg, Wisconsin Palatine and St. John, Wheaton Lutheran Early Response Teams (L.E.R.T.) helped an Immanuel Lutheran Church member with a storm-damaged, splitting tree from the strong winds and storms that occurred last week. LCC has had the honor to serve at St. Matthew Lutheran Church and School, Illinois, for the last 13 years! This year's 30th Annual Pig Roast raised money for paying for churches repairs and projects not covered by the annual budget, with half of the proceeds going to missions outside the church. Every year LCC has received a generous donation from the proceeds of the Pig Roast. Last Sunday, 18 volunteers supported the annual event team with clean-up. We are thankful for all of our volunteers who serve the Lord by serving His people! Thank you to volunteers from the following congregations for their willingness to serve: Good Shepherd – Elgin Immanuel – Des Plaines Immanuel – Palatine Prince of Peace – Palatine St. Andrews – Park Ridge St. Paul – Mt. LCC K-9 Comfort Dogs Aaron & Gomer (St. John’s - Napa, California), Micah (Light of the Valley - Elk Grove, California), Rahab (St. Andrews - Stockton, California), and Reuben (First Lutheran - Yuba City, California) and their K-9 ministry teams continue to serve the courageous California firefighters at their base camp who work to extinguish and control the Dixie Fire. The LCC K-9 Comfort Dogs and their ministry teams were invited by Shawna Powell at Cal Fire to come to Silver Dollar Fair Grounds in Chico, California, to comfort the firefighters. Shawna is working the Dixie Fire as the Employee Support Staff (ESS) Battalion Chief for that fire (Team 1). The Dixie Fire is a wildfire in Butte and Plumas Counties, California. The fire began in the Feather River Canyon near Cresta Dam on July 13, 2021, and has burned 253,057 acres (102,409 ha) and 35% contained by August 2nd. By July 23, 2021, it had become the largest wildfire of the 2021 California fire season, and by July 30, 2021, the 11th largest in the state's history. Throughout the week, the Comfort Dogs were present at the base camp to greet, comfort, and love these brave men and women. On Tuesday, July 27, they also shared a moment of sending a special “Happy Birthday” song to one of the fire fighter’s sons who cannot be home to celebrate his birthday. We send a lot of love to Aidan on his birthday. "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go." Joshua 1:9
This week, the Palatine Lutheran Early Response Team (L.E.R.T.) helped two Immanuel Lutheran Church, Palatine, Illinois, members who had trees and limbs fall on their roof and properties from the strong winds and storms that occurred this past Friday. Both families expressed their gratitude to Jim and Karen Beckley, Richard Habegger, Steve MacKay, and Dede Thut for their willing service and hard work. |
