Looking for a fun and unique addition to your Vacation Bible School this year? Consider scheduling an LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Ministry® Virtual Visit for individual class sessions. VBS is such a wonderful outreach tool and the LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Ministry teams from across the United States would love to participate and share with students the different ways they have been connecting and staying in touch with people this year. Schedule an LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Ministry® Virtual Visit for your VBS today! LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Cubby (Redeemer – Fort Collins, Colorado) and her handler met a new friend but someone who is a faithful follower of the LCC K-9 Ministry. She has already virtually visited with about 20 of the Comfort Dogs and enjoys connecting with each one of them. Cubby Comfort Dog's handler prayed with her as well for her friends who are sick. LCC received the following message from the follower: “These virtual visits have made my weeks way better during this time of uncertainty. It has helped me through the good times and the bad times. It also has helped put many smiles on my face. It also has brought me and my brother closer together. It makes me feel like that I'm actually really meeting the dogs in real life.” Lutheran Early Response Team (L.E.R.T.) chainsaw volunteers helped a congregation member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Roselle, Illinois, by utilizing the boom lift to cut and remove a tree that was split in half from last week’s storms. It was dangling dangerously over the homeowner’s roof and driveway. They appreciated the professional assistance at no cost and the willingness to serve on a holiday weekend. These L.E.R.T. volunteers serving were Steve Chester, Byron Heidorn and Rich Wren from St. John, Wheaton and Dave Vance from Trinity, Rosellle, Illinois. On Tuesday. July 2, LCC K-9 Police Ministry Dog Aaron (St. John’s – Napa, California) along with LCC K-9 Comfort Dogs Micah (Light of the Valley – Elk Grove, California) and Reuben (First Lutheran – Yuba City, California) visited with their friends at the Shasta County Coroner’s Office in Redding, California, after a tragic event. Our handlers prayed for the families of those involved in the tragedy and for the coroner’s office staff. We were happy to snuggle our heroes. Last week, the LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Ministry team for Hope Comfort Dog at Faith Lutheran Church in Marietta, Georgia, presented a Mercy Heart to a member of Faith whose wife is in isolation in the cardiac unit at Emory Hospital in Atlanta. Linda is awaiting the availability of a heart (her second in 20 years) and a kidney. Russ was able to pass on to Linda the Mercy Heart signed by so many of the Faith family (including Hope Comfort Dog) that there was no room left! Linda's favorite Bible verses, Philippians 4:11-12 "I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances..." and a lyric from her favorite hymn "It is well with my soul..." were written on the fish. We pray for Linda and for all who are dealing with health and emotional issues during these trying times. On Thursday, July 2, LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Abner (Bethany – Austin, Texas) and his handler dropped off dinner and flowers to a friend who has been in our prayers many times as she’s overcome Crohn’s disease, cancer, and now COVID-19. Exodus 23:25 “Worship the Lord your God, and his blessings will be on your food and water. I will take away sickness from among you …” LCC staff and K-9 Comfort Dog Ministry team members of Christ the King in Lake Ozark, Missouri, remembered and recognized the loss of “Alex” Keith at the 4 year anniversary of his death by signing and presenting an LCC Heart of Mercy & Compassion for his mother Debbie Graf. Debbie is the Top Dog for the K-9 Comfort Dog Ministry team in process at Christ the King. We lift up Debbie and her family in prayer. A Mercy Heart was also signed by team members and presented to Bob Moeckel of Christ the King to present to his sister who is struggling with cancer. We pray for God’s healing hand and comfort for Bob’s sister and all those who are facing medical challenges. On Wednesday, July 1, LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Dinah (Trinity – Auburn, Illinois) and her handler had a special window visit. One of her friends played his guitar for her! It was sweet music to their ears. This was a special visit indeed! Psalm 57:7 “My heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast! I will sing and make melody!” On Wednesday, July 1, LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Micah (Light of the Valley – Elk Grove, California) and his handler visited the Consumnes Community Services District Fire Department Headquarters. They are waiting to visit the firehouses again but are glad to be back in to see their friends at headquarters. He loves wearing his fire hydrant bandana to show support for these courageous first responders!
