Stony Creek School

On Friday, May 17, LCC Kare 9 Military Ministry Dog Brutus and LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Barnabas (Trinity – Hobart, Indiana) spent the morning meeting the staff and 700-plus students of Stony Creek School in Alsip, Illinois. Each student heard a short presentation about the LCC K-9 Ministries followed by an opportunity to pet and meet the LCC K-9s.

National Louis University

On Thursday, May 16, LCC K-9 Comfort Dogs Emma (LCC Staff) and Susie (St. Peter – Arlington Heights, Illinois), along with LCC Kare 9 Military Ministry Dogs Brandy and Brutus (LCC Squad) greeted students and staff at National Louis University in Wheeling, Illinois, as a part of their National Wellness Week. Meeting and bringing comfort to all was a highlight of the day.

On Monday, May 20, LCC Kare 9 Military Ministry Dog Brutus (LCC Squad) and Veteran Gene were invited to visit National Louis University in Chicago, Illinois. A fellow student had suddenly passed away and they requested a Comfort Dog to help students who were missing their classmate. Kare 9 Brutus shared is his love with many students and staff.

Dream Academy

Recently, LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Levi (Immanuel – East Dundee, Illinois) was invited by Dr. Marie McKee, a social worker at Dream Academy, to visit students and staff on Trauma Informed Care Awareness Day. Dream Academy is an alternative high school for students who for various reasons have difficulty in the traditional school environment. Staff and Levi Comfort Dog wore purple for the day.

Girl Scouts of Mokena Intermediate School

The Girl Scouts of Mokena Intermediate School invited LCC Kare 9 Military Ministry Dog Brutus (LCC Squad) and veteran Gene to present the LCC K-9 Ministries to the troop on Monday, May 20. The mission of the LCC K-9s was shared with the 30 girls and leaders followed by a time for them to greet and love on Brutus.

Police Memorial Service

On May 13th, LCC K-9 Police Ministry Dog Gracie (Trinity - Davenport, IA) attended the Police Memorial Service at the Davenport (IA) Police Department.

The ceremony began with prayer, honored officers killed in the line of duty. Comfort was offered to police officers and family members of the fallen.

National Lewis University

LCC Kare 9 Military Ministry Dogs Tobias (Lord of Glory – Grayslake, Illinois) and Brutus (LCC Squad) were invited to Wellness Week at National Lewis University in Chicago, Illinois. Students were invited to view a short video from the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. After viewing the video Tobias and Brutus were on hand to help the students process what they had seen and heard

On May 8th, LCC K-9 Police Ministry Dog Reuben (First Lutheran - Yuba City, CA) and his law enforcement handler attended the Peace Officers Memorial Service at the Stockton (CA) Police Department.

The ceremony was held to honor officers killed in the line of duty. K-9 Police Ministry Dog Reuben offered comfort to police officers, and to family members. A visit was also made with police dispatchers there, who couldn't be outside for the ceremony.

Dear Jesus, protect those who walk that Thin Blue Line, protecting us all. Amen.

On May 10th, LCC K-9 Police Ministry Dog Amos (Our Savior's Way - Ashburn, VA) and his law enforcement handlers attended the Fairfax County Police Fallen Officers Memorial Service at Fairfax County (VA) Police Headquarters.

The ceremony was held to honor officers killed in the line of duty, and comfort was offered to police officers and family members of the fallen.

A beautiful memorial there has a prayer to our Heavenly Father inscribed on it, which includes these words..."They we're tasked with fighting your fight on this Earth; standing up for what is right and just, comforting your children in need, and placing themselves in danger to do your will. We call them peace officers..."

West Coast Regional Gathering

God brought together old friends and new friends to uplift and learn from one another on Saturday, May 11 at the West Coast Regional Gathering. Lots of smiles, laughter, discussion, sharing of ideas, time working with the LCC K-9 Comfort Dogs, and encouragement were part of this gathering. The mission of bringing the mercy, compassion, presence and proclamation of Jesus Christ to those who are suffering and need was brought to all of these wonderful people together for the gathering.

The gathering included St John, Napa, CA with LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Aaron, First Lutheran, Yuba City, CA with LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Reuben, First Good Shepherd, Las Vegas, NV, with LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Lois, and Light of the Valley Elk Grove, CA, Good Shepherd, Turlock, CA, St Andrew, Stockton, CA, and Faith Community, Las Vegas, NE that are eagerly waiting for their future LCC K-9 Comfort Dog.

LCC President / CEO Commencement Speaker at Concordia University St Paul and Receives Honorary Doctorate from Concordia St. Paul

On Saturday, May 11, LCC President / CEO Tim Hetzner was the commencement speaker at Concordia St. Paul, Minnesota (CSP) graduation ceremony and brought a special guest on stage in LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Gideon (St. Michael’s – Bloomington, Minnesota). Tim graduated from CSP in 1978. Tim was also given the high honor of an honorary doctorate in Humane Letters from CSP on Saturday by Rev. Dr. Thomas Ries, President, Concordia St. Paul.

LCC would like to extend congratulations to Tim Hetzner!
