Aaron Comfort Dog, his handlers, and St. John’s Lutheran Church and School recognized police week by providing snacks for our law enforcement friends, including 911 dispatchers, as well as hand-made cards from our students. They also hung posters and blue bows along the street thanking our Napa Police, Sheriffs, and California Highway Patrol.
The following email was received by a California Highway Patrol officer: Dear Team Aaron Comfort Dog, Thank you for all your support. You may not fully understand how meaningful and appreciated your work and support of our officers is. People like yourself remind us of the reason for why we serve. It makes what we do all worth it. It helps us forget the stresses of our jobs. What you all do is amazing. Especially Aaron. Sergeant Peter Arpaia California Highway Patrol Napa Are
Salam Christian Fellowship Needs Financial Assistance to Help a Candidate at Concordia Seminary5/22/2018
One member of an LCMS church who is impressed by Chris's service and dedication offered to donate $11,000 to the SMP if someone could match her gift. Hopefully, from now until September 2018, we can find gifts to match 1 to 1, or 2 to 1, in smaller gift giving totals that can surpass that.
Please prayerfully consider donating generously to help Salam raise a total of $20,000 for seminary for the first two years. In Christ, Rev. Hesham Shehab Salam Christian Fellowship LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Shiloh Visits Dixon, Illinois Students, Staff, and Family Members After Shooting5/22/2018
On Wednesday, May 16, a shooting occurred at the Dixon High School in Dixon, Illinois. Thanks be to God, there was no loss of life. The quick actions of the school resource officer led to the apprehension of the alleged shooter. At the request of the Dixon city manager, Shiloh Comfort Dog (Christ Our Savior – Dixon, Illinois) was immediately deployed to help comfort students at a shelter location. The Dixon Schools superintendent also requested assistance for school staff, students, and family members over the next several days during counseling sessions, graduation rehearsal, and the return of students to class. The Dixon Public Schools #170 Superintendent, Margo D. Emden, wrote the following comment on Shiloh's Facebook page: "Thank you for being with us this week. The kindness you've shown will never be forgotten. Supporting our students and staff meant so much to us. God bless the work you do." LCC is blessed to have Comfort Dogs in many communities across the country, ready to serve others in their time of need. Tragic Shooting - 10 Dead - LCC K-9 Comfort Dogs Deploying to Santa Fe High School in Texas5/18/2018
"As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you; and you will be comforted..." Isaiah 66:13 Students, Faculty, and Staff Flee from Active Shooter During 1st Period Classes 9 Students & 1 Teacher Killed, Officer Critically Wounded, Others Injured, and Many Traumatized
Gloria Dei has students who attend Santa Fe High School and is in the process for an LCC K-9 Comfort Dog. They have already deployed staff to the hospital to be with impacted families and first responders. LCC never charges those we serve. It has allowed us, without hesitation, to go when and where we are invited. The nature of our deploying comes with a cost, as last minute travel is generally the most expensive. So we rely on your generosity to help us serve those who are suffering and in need. Please remember students and their families, staff, faculty, first responders and this community in your prayers. Your gifts to the K-9 Travel Fund are greatly appreciated. LCC also hands out stuffed dogs to those most affected by the shooting. That is made possible by your generous gifts. Thank you for your prayers and all of your support! Tim Hetzner
