Hines VA Hospital

On Thursday, January 16, the LCC Kare 9 Military Ministry was again part of the Last Roll Call Remembrance at Hines VA Hospital in Hines, Illinois. The ceremony is held on a quarterly basis to honor and remember those veterans who have gone to their eternal rest over the past three months.

LCC Kare 9 Military Ministry Dogs Brandy, Flex (LCC Squad), and Nigel (LCC Staff) brought love, compassion, and comfort to the family members of the veterans.

Tri-Com Central Dispatch

On Sunday, January 19, LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Julia (King of Glory - Elgin, Illinois) visited Tri-Com Central Dispatch in St. Charles, Illinois.

It's always nice to spend some time with the dispatchers there, but Julia Comfort Dog spent some extra time with Mandi, since she recently lost her father, and she needed some golden snuggles. Please remember her in your prayers.

Mill Neck Manor School for the Deaf

On Friday, January 17, LCC K-9 Police Ministry Dog Abraham (Trinity - Hicksville, New York) visited the Mill Neck Manor School for the Deaf in Locust Valley, New York.

They played a special game of "Abraham Bingo", and everyone had a wonderful time!

St. Paul's Lutheran Church

On January 19, LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Rufus (St. Mark - Edmond, Oklahoma) visited St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Cheney, Kansas to tell the members there about the LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Ministry and the LCC K-9 Police Ministry.

The Life Team and other members of the congregation were so welcoming, and it was a joy to make new friends and talk about Jesus!

Chicago Hope Academy

On Tuesday, January 14, LCC Kare 9 Military Ministry Dogs Brutus (LCC Squad) and Nigel (LCC Staff) along with LCC K-9 Comfort Dogs Emma and Ruthie (LCC Staff) visited the Chicago Hope Academy to meet and greet the students and staff before classes began. Chicago Hope Academy is the only Christian High School in Chicago outside the Catholic school system. The school has an inspiring story of its founding and history.

The remarkable staff and students loved meeting the Kare 9s and receiving some comfort from them before they began their day.

Your generous donations provide financial assistance with rent for a young family who is going through some tough times.

Sincere thanks to LCC donors for being living examples of Christ's love to this young family who found themselves in a difficult situation. Their generous gifts allowed me, as this family's Pastor, to place into their hands a very tangible reminder of what the free and unconditional love of Christ and His church looks like.

This young mom was absolutely overwhelmed with emotion at the presentation of the gift, and kept commenting about how it was such a clear answer to prayer.

I would also like to share the good news that the husband/father has been hired for a new job, which will hopefully last until his regular job begins again in the spring. Yet another answer to prayer! Isn't our God just awesome??!!

This family is incredibly thankful for the outpouring of love and support!

Your Donations Enable LCC to Continue to Send Thousands of Dollars to Haiti Mission Partners for Immediate Food Needs

Lutheran Church Charities (LCC) continues to work through our Haiti Mission Partners, Ministry in Mission and Mission: Haiti to send emergency funds to Haiti during a current critical humanitarian crisis due to the political unrest.

Thanks to your generous donations, LCC is able to continue to send thousands of dollars to our mission partners to purchase immediate food needs for the most vulnerable.

Mr. Orelus, age 93. We took food to him again. He can’t walk and he sleeps on the ground where you see him. The first time Lophane, our Field Director, brought food he had not eaten in three days and was praying for an angel to bring him food since he couldn’t get up. He told Lophane, that he was the answer to that prayer.

Thanks to great partners like Lutheran Church Charities, last week Ministry in Mission purchased, packed and delivered food in the mountains of Haiti. We had enough food to feed 50 families or 200 people; 450 showed up. Never enough!

Please prayerfully consider making a monetary donation to enable Lutheran Church Charities to continue to send emergency funds to Haiti to help provide food for Haitian adults and children.

Thirty dollars will buy enough rice, oil, maggi, canned fish, spaghetti, and soup to feed one person two meals a day for three weeks. LCC Haiti mission partners are helping the most nutritionally vulnerable but need financial support to do so.

Join LCC as we pray for the protection of the Haitian people and our mission partners, and for peace in Haiti.

Seeking Volunteer General Contractor to Rehab Housing in Belize for a Missionary Couple

Wanted: Volunteer General Contractor

The pictured building in Belize will house a GEO (Globally Engaged in Outreach) missionary couple from LCMS International Mission. This newlywed couple is committed to engaging the youth of a refugee village in the area. GEOs commit to 30 months of service.

The building has a good bone structure but needs a complete rehab and slight expansion to make this a home for the couple that will arrive in July.

The trip is sponsored by Central American Lutheran Mission Society (CALMS) and King of Glory Lutheran Church, Elgin, Illinois. Time frame is the last two weeks of May to the first two weeks in June. Estimating 8 days of work with the right team. Contractor availability will determine the exact dates.

Grant Middle School Emergency Site Visit

On Monday, January 6, LCC K-9 Comfort Dogs Eunice (LCC Staff), Kye (Immanuel – Belvidere, Illinois), and Tobias (Lord of Glory – Grayslake, Illinois) visited Grant Middle School in Marengo, Illinois to be with the students and staff who were saddened by a sudden death of a classmate over the winter break on January 2, 2020.

The K-9s were also present for all attending visitation for the 10-year-old boy on Thursday, January 9 and funeral on Friday, January 10.

Troy Heritage Trail School

1/13/2020

On Monday, January 13, LCC Kare 9 Military Ministry Dogs Brutus (LCC Squad) and Nigel (LCC Staff) along with LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Sage (Concordia University Wisconsin - Mequon, Wisconsin) visited Troy Heritage Trail School in Joliet, Illinois.

Approximately 75 students had the opportunity to read to the Comfort Dogs and get to know them. The K-9s heard wonderful stories from the students’ readings, as well as about their personal pets. Sage Comfort Dog's handlers made a presentation to the students and staff about the LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Ministry.
