aThis team completed drywall and mudding of 3 homes during their one week stay. They worked at a home of an 83 year old women who had just purchased her ranch home 5 months prior to the hurricane. She lost all her furniture, appliances, and many possessions. In 2 ½ days, the team completed hanging and mudding drywall in her entire home. She told the team, “Great job guys and gals!”
Beaumont had 1,000 homes that were under water for a few weeks. This area will need help recovering for a couple years. There is still a lot of help needed for the long term recovery efforts in these communities. LCC is truly blessed by the Trinity – Peoria, Illinois LERT team of talented members and thanks them for dedicating their time to serve communities still devastated by Hurricane Harvey in Texas. Cissna Park State Bank recently notified LCC K-9 Police Ministry Dog Mahlah (Our Savior – Milford, Illinois) that they wanted to donate $1,000 to her brand new Police Ministry! Shirley Bruens of Cissna Park State Bank presented the donation to Pastor Karl Gibbs of Our Savior Lutheran Church and police ministry handler Brandon Legan, an Iroqouis County Sheriff’s Deputy and part-time Milford Police Officer. Our Savior thanks Cissna Park State Bank for this wonderful gift, and most importantly to the Giver of all good things, God, our Heavenly Father! May this gift be used to bring the news of His compassion, mercy, and presence to those in the Law Enforcement community!
LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Mahlah (Our Savior – Milford, Illinois) received the following email on January 2, 2018:
Mahlah, Thank you for visiting my wife at Gilman Healthcare Center today. There have not been that many times that I have seen a smile on Karen's face like I saw today when you were in her room with her. Karen is one of the biggest animal lovers I have ever seen in my life and it is probably one of the top things she misses since she has been ill the past 5 1/2 years. Bless you, your Handlers and your Church for the joy you all bring to those you visit. We look forward to many more visits from you. God Bless, Austin
As we enter the New Year, LCC continues to bring the mercy, compassion, presence, and proclamation of Jesus Christ to those who are suffering and in need. The LCC K-9 Ministry especially asks you to lift up in prayer the teams that are now responding to the deaths of children and adults, and for the families and friends that are grieving the loss of loved ones. St. Andrews Lutheran Church - Stockton, California: St. Andrews is in the process of getting an LCC K-9 Comfort Dog. With LCC K-9 Comfort Dogs Aaron (St. John's - Napa, California) and Reuben (First Lutheran - Yuba City, California), they responded to the death of a 1st grader by visiting his school and classmates on Tuesday, January 2, as counselors and teachers share the news of his loss. St. Stephen's Lutheran Church - Liberty, Missouri: Following the death of a mother, 2 daughters, and a friend in a truck accident, LCC K-9 Comfort Dog teams from the Missouri Valley region will be attending the visitation and funeral on Wednesday, January 3. Prince of Peace Lutheran Church - Crystal Lake, Illinois: LCC K-9 Comfort Dog teams attended the visitation on Tuesday, January 2, for a 27 year-old who lost his battle with cancer. Living Christ Lutheran Church - Arlington Heights, Illinois: Working through Living Christ and LCC K-9 Comfort Dog JoJo, LCC K-9 Comfort Dog teams attended a visitation on Tuesday, January 2, that a neighbor made on behalf of the family. This family is in need of comfort and hope in Christ as they are not currently affiliated with a church. Thank you for your prayers as we begin this year serving others with the love of Jesus.
Help Us Help You Continue to Make A Difference!
LCC would like to extend a gracious "Thank You" to all who have supported us throughout 2017 and those who donated to our 12/31 ‘Remember Us Last’ Annual Appeal. Don't worry if you did not get a chance to donate on December 31, it is never too late to contribute to the furthering of God's Kingdom! Whenever there is a crisis or natural disaster, we share that information with you and ask you to support those one-time events so that every dollar you donate goes to that event. Nothing is kept aside for administration, salaries, rent or other necessities of doing ministry. So, each year we make ONE year end appeal to cover all the other essentials. Please consider donating online, or call 866-455-6466. Thank you for our continued support through your gifts, volunteering, and most importantly, your prayers! Remember Us Last to keep us first to serve in 2018! You have helped LCC provide for the critical needs of many Amigos Center families in Florida who are still recovering from the devastation left by Hurricane Irma. LCC is partnering with the Amigos Center located in Bonita Springs and Immokalee, Florida to assist the families they serve. Most of these families had major roof or flood damage or totally lost their home, causing many beds and appliances to be ruined. Your Donations Are Still Needed! Your donations are already making a difference in the lives of many Amigos Center families. Church and Bible study attendance have doubled as they can see people being the hands and feet of Jesus caring for their needs. These families have received either beds, bedding or appliances by the end of 2017. Help LCC complete the needs for all 92 families in early 2018. Thank you for showing the love of Jesus to the Amigos Center families.
