The Bible verse given to Michael Comfort Dog (LCC Staff) is a fitting tribute to his handler, Mary Wells: “Finally, be strong in His mighty power” (Ephesians 6:10). These words capture the essence of Mary’s life—a life spent strong in the Lord, faithfully serving Him until He gently called her home on the morning of Sunday, November 9. Mary’s life was a testament to selfless service. She devoted herself to teaching, comforting, and sharing God’s love with those who needed it most. Even when the Lord asked her to step beyond her comfort zone, Mary turned to Him for strength and courageously moved forward, trusting His plan. On Saturday, November 15, the pews of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lansing, IL, were filled with dear friends, cherished memories, and a profound sense of God’s love. They gathered to commend our beloved friend and handler, Mary Wells, into the loving arms of her Savior. The service was a beautiful reflection of the hope we have in Christ, reminding us that Jesus’ love never fails and that His promise of resurrection is certain and steadfast. In the midst of our grief, we held close the comforting words of John 14: "Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms… And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am." Thomas asked, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?” Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” On Saturday, we rested in that promise—the same promise Mary trusted with her whole heart. She is now with her Lord, whole and at peace, awaiting the day when we will all be reunited in His presence. We are profoundly grateful for the faithful LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Ministry teams who surrounded Mary's family and friends with prayer, love, and support: Tobias Comfort Dog Mary Comfort Dog Charity Comfort Dog Gethsemane Comfort Dog Caleb Comfort Dog Hannah Comfort Dog Julia Comfort Dog Shadrach Comfort Dog Michael Comfort Dog Jael Comfort Dog Mary’s life was a shining example of unwavering faith and love. Though we mourn her passing, we celebrate the eternal hope she now enjoys in Christ, inspired to live boldly and love deeply, just as she did. Comments are closed.
